I don't think listening to music must be partisan... I just don't buy that. But it helps, if you're a politician and want to use an artist's music, to select a playlist which actually represents your campaign message. It also helps to realize the artist, whose music you want to use, won't tolerate you using it in allegiance with a message he/she is against.
