Sheriff Talton is the man for the job. Proven leadership. All the local police chiefs are backing Sheriff Talton, here it the recent news article from Fox News 24 about the sheriffs race:

Houston Co. Sheriff's Race Heats Up

Houston County Sheriff, Cullen Talton, and fellow Republican, Chad Payne, both believe they're the best choice for Houston County Sheriff.

Sheriff Talton asserts, "I have no animosity toward him, but I just feel like we've got a good department and I'd like to keep it that way."

Payne counters, "The techniques of proactive criminal enforcement of today are much greater than they were years ago, versus a reactive approach, and I want to bring that to the Sheriff's Office. Statistics will show you that when the economy is down, crime stats are up. We have to prepare for that. We have a population explosion in Houston County. We have to prepare for that."

The July 15th primary now just over 2 weeks away. As the election horizon draws near, 3 key figures in Houston County law enforcement have chosen to publicly endorse Sheriff Talton.

Chief George Potter of the Perry Police Dept. explains, "If you take a look at our statistics for each municipality in the county, you'll see that they're lower than the state average. A lot of that has to do with the cooperation and the leadership that we get from the Sheriff."

Warner Robins Police Chief, Brett Evans, notes, "This is a chance that Houston County has to continue in a spirit of cooperation where we know what works already."

If you've driven through Houston County recently, chances are you've seen no shortage of Cullen Talton signs. The Sheriff says he originally ordered 2,500 and had to re-order 2,000 due to overwhelming requests. He admits this year's a little different because he has competition, but the law enforcement chiefs say that the presence of competition this year has nothing to do with their endorsements.

Rep. Willie Talton, Fmr. Chief Deputy for the Houston Co. Sheriff's Office, adds, "Houston County is blessed as far as I'm concerned to have a man of his caliber as Sheriff. So, if he didn't have any opposition at all, I'd be standing here with these same people telling you the same thing."

It seems like we have a great thing going in Houston County!!!!!!!!

As many of you know the election for Sheriff of Houston County is July 15th. Chad Payne is running against the incumbent, Cullen Talton (37 years as sheriff). Many of you may not know that Chad has served our country in the Army, confiscated over ten million dollars in drugs and drug money, trained hundreds of other officers all over the country, been shot at numerous times, physically fought with too many suspects to count and has been working tirelessly to win this election.

Please forward...the election is only a few days away. You can vote now at the Annex on Carl Vinson Pkwy. or the courthouse in Perry. If you wait until July 15th you must vote at your designated area. We truly appreciate your support.

Sheriff Talton has served as our boss for 35 years. He continues to manage our department effectively. I support him because he expects nothing but the most and best out of all of us! Professionalism and serving the citizens of Houston County is key for our department.

hey sherry name a sheriff who hasn't physically fought with a suspect. most have been shot at. some seize drug money every day. does that qualify them to be the sheriff? no you need experience in people skills. you need to know everything about each individual job. chad doesn't. he is a glorified patrolman who has a bad record and will probably lose his certification. maybe before you keep telling these lies you need to find out the truth. it ain't looking good for you and your choice for sheriff. if you have already voted thats ok but if not please make the right choice and vote for talton this tuesday.

I feel all of this mud slinging is completely out off line for all and I mean all that are involved. The canidates have run a pretty fair campaign. It just seems that there are supporters slinging most of the dirt. Let the sheriffs race take it's course. I am definately a Chad Payne Supporter an have voted that way. My family also agrees in this canidate and my peers. I am not trying to say that the Sheriff hasn't done a good job for 36 years, but 36 years is to long to do anything we need new blood !

[Howard Street} why is it that you no longer work for Houston County? Is it because you got fired too!

Well, the race is over thank god. I'm from Bonaire(don't know why it always post another state). Chad, good luck in your future. I don't wish anything bad on you and hope the best for your family. I want good things to happen with you because I like you and your wife. I could not vote for you yesterday even though I talked with you a few days ago and was looking into it because I know you could not have done the job as sheriff, you are a great drug guy on the interstate but there is a lot more to being sheriff.

Your supporters hurt you a lot too. You get judged sometime by who you hang around with and who waves a sign with your name on it. It's bad having Stewart Collins waving a sign with your name on it smoking a cigarette at the same time waving. IT LOOKS BAD!

When I got to the pole at Bonaire Middle to cast my vote I saw Tommy Spires waving a Cullen Talton sign and talking with people. He had on a Talton shirt, hat, and sticker. Spires is a man that the public looks up to. I think Talton got a lot of his votes from the people he had working on his race for him. People like Spires really help in a campaign.

I have lived in Bonaire for forty years and know people look at who supports you and what they want. As a friend Chad, I really don't think you ever have a chance of being sheriff in Houston County. There is too much history with you here and the citizens saw that.

Best of luck to you Chad and your family. God bless you!

Howard, you are a joke. You helped Cullen Talton with this race by just wearing a Chad Payne shirt had waving for him. That was the best tool we had going for us for Talton for Sheriff!!!!

I love how this Sherry person rambles on about how Chad "got shot at" and apparently thinks this qualifies him to even run against Cullen Talton. This logic opens the election up to any gang-banger with a bullet wound. Bless her heart.

I think Mr. Bonaire Man is exactly right... you are judged by who you hang out with! Now I dont know the man he referred to waving a sign and smoking a cigarette but I do know Spires and he is one of the greatest guys we have at the Sheriff's Office. The office has alot of good guys who are serious about their jobs and who they support and that is an admirable thing! I love working for the HCSO and the ppl there are more than coworkers in my opinion and we showed that by sticking together and giving our all until the very end!! Congrats Sheriff Talton!!!
