Name of the Month - Adam
By: Jeff A. Benner

We are all familiar with the name "Adam" as found in the book of Genesis, but what does it really mean? Let us begin by looking at its roots. This word/name is a child root derived from the parent דם meaning, "blood". By placing the letter א in front of the parent root, the child rootאד ם is formed and is related in meaning to דם (blood).

By examing a few other words derived from the child root אד&#15 01; we can see a common meaning in them all. The Hebrew word אד&#15 02;ה (adamah) is the feminine form of אד&#15 01; meaning "ground" (see Genesis 2:7). The word/name אד&#14 93;ם (Edom) means "red". Each of these words have the common meaning of "red". Dam is the "red" blood, adamah is the "red" ground, edom is the color "red" and adam is the "red" man. There is one other connection between "adam" and "adamah" as seen in Genesis 2:7 which states that "the adam" was formed out of the "adamah".

In the ancient Hebrew world, a person’s name was not simply an identifier but descriptive of one's character. As Adam was formed out of the ground, his name identifies his origins.

Imagine if Taliban came to US to fight for its highways. What is US still doing there.

PS -- US highways are run by Mexican drug cartels.

The only reason the US is still in Afghanistan is because everyone knows that once the US leaves no woman in Afghanistan will be safe from beatings, rape, and "honor" killings, and no girl will be able to get an education. It may well be true that the men of Afghanistan want the US to leave, but the women are praying that never happens.

How can you explain that majority of crimes there, are commited by your militaries?
Stop to talk nonsenses. Do you respect your women in USA? I think that they are innocent victims of their brutal men. And domestic violance is very often issue in USA. Women from USA are very oft beaten, raped, maltreated or even killed by their husbands. Respect women' rights firstly in your country.

Afghans want to live in free country and they don't give up. And your invasion, your violations of their rights and other atrocities commited by US politicians and their military servants are danger independence, freedom and human rights in Afghanistan. You must leave this Afghanistan, get out. You will be never tolerated there. This war is waste of money, which could be spent for proper goals.
It is easy way to change it. To come back to normality, to end these criminal, illegal wars, genocide and crime against humanity. 1. Elect normal president, who is sane, it is Ron Paul and he will change everything for better. He will restore peace and he will give money of US society, where it is needed- it means on needs of US society ( retired, middle class, aid for victims of natural disasters, honest health care ) It is such easy way to change everything.

Are you sure? Did US go there to catch Osama bin Laden? He's dead and buried (at sea). US troops are dying for nothing.

One of many reasons that has little to do with why the U.S. is still in Afghanistan is the welfare of Afghan women. Ask women of Afghanistan. Some have made public statements of remarkable clarity that, for some reason, get no attention in our mainstream corporate press. Here's a statement by Afghan women's group from 2007:
THE U.S. AND HER FUNDAMENTALIST STOOGES ARE
THE MAIN HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATORS IN AFGHANISTAN

The US and her allies tried to legitimize their military occupation of Afghanistan under the banner of "bringing freedom and democracy for Afghan people". But as we have experienced in the past three decades, in regard to the fate of our people, the US government first of all considers her own political and economic interests and has empowered and equipped the most traitorous, anti-democratic, misogynist and corrupt fundamentalist gangs in Afghanistan.

In the past few years, for a thousand times the lies of U.S. claims in the so-called "War on terror" were uncovered. By relying on the criminal bands of the Northern Alliance, the US made a game of values like democracy, human rights, women's rights etc. thus disgracing our mournful nation. The U.S. created a government from those people responsible for massacres in Pul-e-Charkhi, Dasht-e-Chamtala, Kapisa, Karala, Dasht-e-Lieli, 65,000 Kabulis and tens of mass graves across the country. Now the US tries to include infamous killers like Mullah Omer and Gulbuddin Hekmatyar into the government, which will be another big hypocrisy in the "war against terror".

The reinstatement of the Northern Alliance to power crushed the hopes of our people for freedom and prosperity into desperation and proved that for the Bush administration, defeating terrorism so that our people can be happy, have no significance at all. The US administration plays a funny anti-Taliban game and pretends that a super power is unable to defeat a small, marginalized and medieval-minded gang which is actually her own product. But our people found by experience in the past few years that the U.S. doesn't want to defeat the Taliban and Al-Qaeda, because then they will have no excuse to stay in Afghanistan and work towards the realization of its economical, political and strategic interests in the region.

Come on Talis! Push 'em back, push 'em back, w-a-a-a-a-y back!

Here's some good advice, Tali Baby! Mount a trafic light at every 5 km interval of the highway. You won't have to wait more than a couple of hours and the Yankee Boys will be blasting each another to hell in fits of road rage! Give it a week and you'll have Afghanistan all to yourselves!
