That's a good idea. Since the wonderful west continues to push the propoganda that communism exists in Russia when Russia is a democracy, while hypocritically doing business with the chinese and pretending that they are not communists, it is a wonderful idea to pursue bases overseas. The USA has 700 military bases + thoughout the world including shoving their behinds into former Soviet territory, Russia should by all means develop bases overseas and not even entertain the notion that the USA and the Wonderful west are friends, because nobody needs such friends who are treacherous and barracudas in disguise. Go Russia. It's time to even the odds in protecting Russia from the imperialistic march of the wonderful west as it greedily seeks to steal the resources belonging to other people.

China wants to protect its energy routes from the Gulf region, and seeks bases in South Asia. For Russia it's access to the Ocean from the Black sea that is all important. The Black Sea fleet is the only part of the Russian navy that can operate all year round, and without presence in the Mediteranea, it could be blocked.

Yes, Russia is most loved in the world. All the middle East loves them. haha. The only foreign port they are welcomed in is their base in Syria. Which is questionable how long that will last. Forget the Pacific.

Why? because the USA push them too, by unconditionally supporting their enemy - Israel. Also, by staying away from the regime changes, Russia's stature has grown among the Arab states, where the US are hated more days after days because of its intervention. Also, the US will not sell weapons to the Arabs (again, because of Israel) where Russia will. Finally, most of the new leaders in the Arab world are Muslim fundamentalists, not enclined to favour America.

The hatred for Russia is quite known all over the Middle East and Gulf region. Russia's support of the former powers of Egypt, Libya, etc. and even Syria has made many enemies of the Arab countries. For example, the Arab League has chastized and demonized Russia for it's support of Assad. No, my Russian propagandist, you are very far from the reality of the current world. Ha ! And what Muslim fundamentalists respects Russia? One must remember that Saudi Arabia is a muslim country that enforces Shiria law. Seems to me that they also have many connections to the USA, wheras while Russia has a connection to Iran, another muslim country ruled by Shria law, the Iranian people despise Russia, and the powers to be are very suspicious of Russia. In the final anaysis, Russia has very little influence in these areas.

It's also very expensive to have bases all over the place.
