Underage drinking bill passes

Anyways, drinking is, and will continue to be done by underage students. If you talk to ANY college student(Typically seventeen or eighteen at the beginning of their freshman year) they will acknowledge the fact that alcohol is completely accessible, drinking is somewhat promoted and is a large part of their social lives. Lets also take a few other things into consideration...
1.) You can join the army when you turn 18, can get a bullet in your brain, but not a beer at a bar when you get back from getting that piece of shrapnel removed from your arse. 2.) You can buy cigarettes at 18. How many people die each year of lung cancer from cigarettes? Compared to those in drunk driving accidents? Cigarettes are far more dangerous, it just takes longer to see the results. 3.) You can vote at 18. Mature enough to decide who can run the country, make laws and prosecute criminals, but again not old enough to enjoy a glass of wine with a fine cut of steak. 4.) You can be tried as an adult in nearly every state. Old enough to be held accountable for your actions but... well not old enough to be accountable for your actions? 5.) You can smoke salvia at 18. Salvia is a hallucinogen sold in various head shops across the US (I believe {don't quote me on this} that Utah is the only state it is not legal in). Salvia is said to have a heavier "trip" than psillocybin or LSD in a very short time span. THERE ARE NO LAWS WHICH PROHIBIT PEOPLE FROM DRIVING WHILE ON THIS DRUG. 6.) In many states, Ohio for instance, underage consumption of alcohol has a stiffer fine than possession of marijuana (a supposedly illegal drug). 7.) Statute of limitation is seventeen or eighteen depending on your state. Old enough to make the decision to have a child... but not old enough to toast to it. 8.) You can get legally married at 18. You can live on your own, hold your own job and raise kids but no beer after a long day at work. Sorry kids, no champagne at your wedding. Really it is completely unrealistic to keep kids from drinking. People under the age of twenty one will drink. My heart goes out to all those people who have lost a loved one to a drunk driving accident, but a lower drinking age will not keep them from happening. A lower legal BAC limit WILL keep this from happening. The only thing a higher drinking age will do is cut down the proportion of people who are able to drink (and therefore drive after doing so), so if we were to raise the drinking age from 21 to 30 there would be even less drinking and driving deaths (doesn't seem very plausible does it). This is something that bothers me. I am twenty years old, and have been drinking since my sixteenth birthday. I have never operated a motor vehicle or done anything illegal while under the influence of alcohol (with the exception of smoking marijuana a few times). I do not see why I can't enjoy a beer at a bar with my dad or a glass of wine out to dinner with my family. |

Nice going bill. Veteran, go shove something in your rectal cavity, but it already seems that you have done so. Anyone above and including the age of 16 should be able to drink. Thats the bottom line. The government wishes to suppress teenage freedom and mental expansion.

Drinking laws are not needed. It should be up to parents if their kids drink or not. In a truly libertarian USA, there would be no age minimums to purchase or consume any substance!

The simple fact that I can be expected to die for my government at 18 but can't be trusted with beer until 21, kept me out of the National Guard.
I'm damn glad I stayed out, or else I'd be misused in Iraq making rich guys richer. I could be dead in the sand for a lie, a waste of life along side a few thousand other wastes of life. I don't care if you let me have a beer after I'm on the hook to die for a stuttering president and his inept intelligence gathering. That's not the point. If you can trust me to carry a gun and kill people for government policy, you can trust me to have beer during peace time. |

I was mad. but i forgave the guy who did it. who by the way hasnt had a sip since. Now this guy is 45! should 45 year olds not be able to drink. Oh and by the way he was at a house party too. A christmas party. thats right, my dad died on chrismas. Im 18 and i drink with my friends, i am going to iraq in 2 months, and im serving on a jury next week. am i immature, i think not.

The brain is never fully developed. It is constantly growing. You don't stop learning stuff or stop remembering stuff when you turn 20. The drinking law is stupid. 18,19,and 20-year olds are just as responsible drinking as a 21-year old. A minor drinking and driving and killing someone is no different than a 21-year old doing it. |

cause your a moron for getting married so young |
|
hey jane so ur saying that a 21 yearold is incapable of doing something "so irresponsible someone could die from it" u are a moron, and probably upset that nobody wanted u to party with them lighten the fuck up, ur attempt to make a point is ironically pointless, if ur gonna nit pic and bitch about things that u will never change how about using some intellagence, unless they forgot to put it back after u were brainwashed by society! |

Change the drinking age to 18 and you'll see at least at 20 percent drop in drunk driving related fatalities.

If they are making bills for "private property" then they are admitting "Private Property" doesnt exist.
