Fight Continues To Close Horse Slaughter Plant

WHERE WOULD ALL THE INSANE HORSES GO? and yes, they do exist WHAT WOULD THE USE BE IN EUTHANIZING AND BURYING A HORSE THAT IS TOO INJURED TO WALK ON ITS OWN- It would be dead if it was in its natural habitat, and some animal would have got some nourishment from it. YOU ARE IGNORANT IF YOU THINK THAT STOLEN HORSES ARE SOLD FOR SLAUGHTER-most horses that are sold to slaughterhouses are horses that people won't take care of, are tired of half-way caring for or can't handle because the horse is dangerous and tries to kill people. YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW MUCH MORE OVER-POPULATED WE WOULD BE IF THE SLAUGHTERHOUSES CLOSED!!! THE HORSE ECONOMY SUCKS RIGHT NOW ANYWAYS BECAUSE OF PEOPLE BREEDING TOO MANY HORSES AND NOW KNOWING WHAT THEY'RE DOING WITH THEM, SO THEY SELL THEM CHEAP. you can buy a registered weanling with so-so bloodlines for under $100, when less than 10 years ago, that same horse might have brought $600. It's so frustrating, you have no idea- maybe you don't know how many horses are in this country? Wake up,look outside your little emotional box and smell the horse-poop. If you don't believe me when i say we NEED slaughter, go to an auction and work riding horses through for a real horse trader who ends up with the type of horses that go to slaughter. you will see why I feel so passionately that some of these equines need to be thinned out. Society doesn't promote criminally insane people having kids do they? No, insane people get locked up. if they commit a crime, they sometimes even get executed. But horses? oh, no we wouldn't want to hurt them, so we'll let them breed freely and make all sorts of worthless babies that degrade the value of good registered horses now that "anybody" can afford one due to overpopulation. and whats worse is that slaughter is only a suppressor for and not the cure for the main problem, which is Neglect and mismanagement. What's cruel is letting horses live with people who don't know how to take care of them. There's only so many "Good Homes" and none of them want "bad horses".

I am against People eating horses, but not against other animals, who are carnivores, eating them. They would if they were in their natural habitat.. who are we to stand in the way of nature :)

EUTHANASIA is where all the "Insane" horses would go-however we dont use that term so again, your comments reek of your total lack of knowledge on this topic. The majority of horses sold to slaughter ARE HEALTHY AND FIT AND FAT
and FOALs as well and MARES WITH FOALS AT THEIR SIDE. You truly are in a DREAM if you belive all the crap you wrote-NONE of your "statistics" are even close to correct. the country WILL NOT be over-populated, the horses will be EUTHANIZED or re-absorbed back into society.
When you graduate from pre-K I hope you obtain correct information at that point but by then HR 503 will have passed, and you will see in time what happens when slaughter is banned.

Debra, we DONT "allow" slaughter here in Texas.

The Belgains came in and started their business here and NOTHING was done many years despite our 1949 anit-slaughter law. The thought they had fallen through the loopholes but HAVE NOT. THe HSUS is a BIG ADVOCATE of anti-slaughter. they ARE trying to do something, for years now, like you should, please contact your state legislators and ask them to vote YES for HR503. Noi one passed a bill allowing slaughter in the US there is simply NO FEDERAL LAW against it and we are trying to make it a law. Debra, do some more research, our money put together will NOT close them down, again, please contact your legislators, the can put a stop to it.

People are carnivores. We all have eyes on the front of our head, not the sides. I do not like the idea of eating a horse but I have to admit that horse meat tastes better than beef. Do you want to eat that fat dumb looking slow cow or the muscular healthy looking horse in the pasture? I myself pass on the high fat beef and go for delicious deer.
