We are considering moving to Mesa from the Midwest. We are mid-50's and want to leave the cold, the snow, the humidity. I would appreciate knowing:
-- PROS and CONS of the city
-- Better areas of the city to live
-- Are the scorpions and snakes as bad as I hear?

Thanks for any input.

Welcome. First the positive; You may want to know that Mesa is the best City in America, I believe, to raise children. I walked away from a budding career in the recording industry from Hollywood to raise my family in Mesa for this reason. It was the Mormons who created the most besutiful family oriented atmosphere and that part still exists to day. I moved my new family to Mesa in 1972, two sons and one daughter, and a year later my only native born Mesa son was added to my family. They are all grown up and highly successful in both business and private lives. I am proud of Mesa's Mormon community for this and couldn't ask for better family oriented neighbors.

Now the con.

Mesa's city hall, it's resources, the city employees, all department heads, the voters and all the people of Mesa has been usurped by a small group of devious wealthy country club buinessmen. This means this small group dictates everything that goes on in Mesa city hall through their hand picked crony city manager as their personal puppett to do their bids. The city manager, liken to a king, has total power over the electorate and the people of Mesa who exploits and extorts the people by over taxing and the ever raising high utility bills. This writer predicts Mesa will become bankrupt within 5 years. This small group has created in Mesa what best can be described as; "Organized, Legalized, Political Racketeering" It would behoove you to order a free copy of Mesa's charter and pit it's wording against the "Fact Sheet" embodied in website; mesaazcorruption.com to be prepared for what you can expect when you arrive. Best, Kirby Allan

Continuation; To explain further it's the "position" of city manager that has been corrupted so, when another manager is appointed he or she automatically becomes part of the corruption. kAll this will be clear when you finish reading Mesa's charter and the "Fact Sheet" on site; mesaazcorruption.com
