When they can really accurately predict which ones will return and which will not then I think we'll see a decrease in mastectomies. Until then many of us choose to do it so that we don't have to constantly be waiting for the other shoe to drop. You'd be surprised by the number of women choosing to do double mastectomy as well. Had bilateral mastectomy four years ago, and just did it, as am an older woman, and had seen lots of women years ago, that survived very nicely, after the operation. One feels more secure, and if one is confident in themselves, and understands that beauty is not just in the breasts, they will, often choose this procedure. Am comfortable with the decision, and feel as fine as I did in my younger years. Good Luck to all in making this decision.
