Birth Control Pills and smoking Marijuana

I know that smoking tobacco is not good while taking birth control but will smoking marijuana cause the pill to be less effective? I also know that any smoke in combo. with the pill leads to greater risk of cardiovascular disease, but my question is only about the effectiveness of the pill. thanks!

I've heard many people say their doctors say it's okay. It doesn't increase the risk of heart disease, or make it less effective. I'm not sure, but I think it's only the nicotine in tobacco that ruins the effect of birth control and highers the risk of heart disease. Although I can't say I have much evidence as to whether it effects birth control, I do have experience. My girlfriend has been taking birth control for a few years now and she likes to smoke with me. She never got heart disease and she still not pregnant. So I don't think you have anything to worry about.

I use to take birth controll and smoke weed and I was never pregnant .. you should be ok.. but ur next check up just ask.your doctor will tell you !

actually , alcohol does affect the affectivness of birthcontrol pills . if you read the side effects you got with your pills , you would see that drinking alcohol is not recommended because it stops the pills from working while you're intoxicated .

So when you smoke weed it doesnt do anything to you like no side effects or anything? And drinking just makes it not work while intoxicated. Hmmm what about the patch are the side effects the same?

It is safe to smoke marijuana and take birth control. Although, don't do it to much, or you may be the statistic that makes it unsafe ahah. Just don't over do it.

What I worry about is the blood clotting that is already a risk with birth control and is increased by smoking cigarettes. Does smoking weed also increase it? Is it the tar and nicotine that causes the blood clotting or just the smoke?

My birthday is tomorrow, 17, im about to start birth control , but i smoke a lot, would it increase the risks or no? Nd is there a certain time when i have to them?

so im 15 and im going to start takeing birth control in 4 days , i smoke cigarettes but only 1 or 2 a day will that still cause a high chance of bloodclots ? I also smoke weed will that effect it in anyway ?
