I just really don't know what glute muscles are in that general area that don't normally get massaged. I'd like to keep it non-sexual, and don't want to embarass myself asking for something sexual accidentally. My LMT understood what it was I needed, and recommended I get a prescription for a medical massage. She's not available to ask today, so I thought I'd ask here.

The reason I'm skeptical is that it would be like a physician writing an order for "An X-ray" and sending you off to Radiology.

It literally says 'Medicinal Massage', for a period of 8 weeks with 2 refills. I was very clear to her what the issue was and what my LMT recommended.

Whenever my physician OB/Gyn contacts send me a patient, it is always listed as "manual lysis of pelvic floor adhesions.". Similarly, dentists refer patients to me for "medial pterygoid massage.". That's why I'm wondering about the lack of specificity.

I thought it was odd too, and asked her if she shouldn't be specific on the scrip, but she said I could just tell the MMT what I needed. I've never had a script for a massage before, so I didn't question her. Can you help me be more specific so I don't end up embarrassing myself?

Males generally don't have pelvic floor issues since that's mostly caused by childbirth or hysterectomy and in some cases trauma such as falling on a horizontal pole. So, based on what you've posted you could have issues with your glutes and thigh adductors. You may ask for work at the origin of the glutes on the sacrum and also the thigh adductors all the way up to their origins on the symphysis pubis and ischium. Please understand that I can't diagnose, only assess and that's very difficult to do in an internet forum. That's why it's so important for your physician to be more specific.

I have had the same therapist for 3 yrs. I am always nude but draped. She massages my glutes undraped, exposing the whole glute while covering the other, and does an excellent job.She has always done this, without being asked. It feels great to me and I respect her all the more for making me feel good.If you find a good one, treat her right.

LMT wrote: Uhh Draping IS required by the Texas State Law. They just recently changed the hourly requirements from 300 to 500hrs, which is good. But Draping is always required. For those who had to take the practical part of the Licensing exam(which is not required anymore) if you exposed genitals or breasts or the gluteal cleavage you were instantly failed. There are professional draping skills that most of us know that do not impede our Therapy. Not anymore. Draping is left up to the therapist and the client, I NEVER have a drape. I find it very distracting when I'm trying to relax. I will just begin to drift off and she would move the drape. I finally said no more. No drape or I move on. I don't ask for anything out of hand. I get hot very easily. I sleep nude and often end up completely uncovered. I will be damned if I am going to spend this kind of money and be uncomfortable or distracted.
