I have tried several locations in Tampa to receive a massage in the nude and without draping, however all require some form of draping. I want nothing sexual but I am more comfortable without it. Besides, I do like it a lot when my butt is massaged and even my crack. Can someone help me?

Draping Safeguard
•The drape acts as a safeguard between the practitioner and client. The FSMTA states that this safeguard must always remain intact and never be violated. Practitioners are not allowed to engage the client in inappropriate physical or verbal activities. If the safeguard is violated, a report should be made immediately to massage parlor supervisors or appropriate authorities. Failing to uphold this safeguard can result in the revocation of a parlor's business license by the FSMTA and the Florida Board of Massage Therapy.

Actual Florida statute requires only that draping be available and offered. The client, as would be appropriate with adults, is allowed to opt for no draping if they desire. The LMT, of course, can choose not to respect the client's wishes if they are uncomfortable with the nude body. However, let's be honest adults here. This is not an issue of legalism but of personal preferences and boundaries.

Per Florida code, as cited here:
https://www.flrules.org/gateway/ruleno.asp...

A client can be undraped if he/she gives "informed consent." In other words, the therapist must OFFER a drape. But if therapist and client agree, the massage can be performed without it.

This is why in Florida, unlike many other states, therapists can freely advertise "draping optional" in advertisements. It is not illegal to do so.

I've found it to be optional in many states, though I don't often see it advertised as such. If it's illegal, then a LOT of licensed therapists are breaking the law.

Well, Paul, you found the citation:
"(5) Failure to appropriately drape a client. Appropriate draping of a client shall include draping of the buttocks and genitalia of all clients, and breasts of female clients, unless the client gives specific informed consent to be undraped."
Apologies to all. But I wonder what is considered "specific informed consent." Does "specific" mean that it has to be in writing, delineating all areas the client will allow undraped? Must the risks, benefits, and alternatives be explained to the client in order to fulfill the requirements of "informed consent?"
When you start looking for loopholes in the law, you are treading on dangerous ground.

LMT, get real...

"unless the client gives specific informed consent to be undraped."

Just read it. If the client specifically asks for and the MT allows, then feel free to move forward legally with an undraped massage. Geez, you probably want a notarized letter in triplicate!

Hotdude, right. Specific informed consent simply means that the client has to be "informed" that draping is available. If client and therapist agree to skip it, it's fine.

This isn't a "loophole." It's something that's clearly allowed in the law, which is why some therapists in Florida openly advertise that draping is optional.

Yep. "Specific informed consent" means the client must give informed consent specifically to not be draped (as opposed to just consenting to the massage). Sounds pretty straight-forward to me. LMT seems to be the only one looking for a loophole.

What I'm looking for is a reasonable explanation for why you want to accommodate exhibitionists on your table when you clearly don't have to. There is NO evidence of ANY clinical benefit to nude massage. None. It has no place in a therapeutic massage. So why allow some perv to wave his dick back and forth, leering at you all the while, when there is no therapeutic benefit to it? Honestly, Mindy, if you have to resort to that to get repeat clients...

LMT, you keep changing what you're looking for. First you asked for a citation of Florida law, which I provided. Then you made a comment about "loopholes," now you resort to multiple attacks.

What the hell business is it of yours if massage therapists choose to LEGALLY offer undraped massage? Are you that offended by the human body that you can't possibly stomach the thought of someone being nude on a massage table, hundreds of miles away from you?

I really feel sorry for your clients. You clearly have some major anger issues as well as serious issues with the human body.

My clients receive EXACTLY what they come for: Therapeutic Massage in a professional, respectful environment. These clients would never consider going to an establishment that caters to the exhibitionists. They want relief from pain. They want to improve their golf game, tennis game, competitive running and cycling, or just relief from home-improvement or gardening pain. They are professional folks who realize that there is an unfortunate lower-class of massage practitioners who cater to a lower class of massage clients and they are smart enough to know the difference. I'm doing quite well professionally, and my clients are very grateful for my attention to ethics.

"why allow some perv to wave his dick back and forth, leering at you all the while, when there is no therapeutic benefit to it?"

Why do you jump to the crazy assumption that the person getting an undraped massage is:
1) a perv?
2) waving his dick back and forth?
3) leering at the MT?

Wow, your reality is quite twisted. You need to enjoy life just a little.

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Libra

It's one of those difficult days when anything can and will happen. Someone you were relying on might let you down, plans could be changed at the eleventh hour or a machine could go on the blink. To make matters worse, your energy levels are very erratic, so you feel full of beans one minute and ready to go to sleep the next. Don't make the situation worse by eating foods that give you a high followed by a slump.
