UQ grants the MBBS degree, which is widely recognized in the U.S. as equivalent to the U.S. MD degree. However students are advised to check their particular state requirements as each state is different and changes occur frequently."

Who would have thunk it - a homeopath full of sh*t. Or maybe they aren't recognised by homeopathy hospitals because they are spend too much time laughing at the stupidity of homeopathy.

Dont believe us as it may be shocking in Australia , USA and UK but Hep B and Hep C surgeons are allowed by law to operate with impunity with an unnaceptable infection rate especially for cardiac surgery and cardiology. Ask any expatriate Malaysian doctor in Australia if this is true

As Muslims , we have a duty to warn with humility. Dont trust us, ask the embassy or Pantai hospital in Malaysia. a patient died because the doctor prescribed a Tracium infusion for a ward patient in Columbia Asia hospital and the whole thing was covered up. This is manslaughter , but lots of things gets covered up here.

No - as a human being you have a duty to do the right thing by your fellow humans. Being a decent human being has nothing to do with whatever religion you follow. Humanity should be your first concern, not god/s.

The scandal of Columbia hospital Malaysia shocked us. A lady was killed after an injection of Tracium by a deranged surgeon. When interrogated by the police as to his rationale, he claimed that he was possesed by a demon and also that the computer system at Columbia Asia was faulty. This man is clearly insane. The manslaughter was hushed up and he now back in Columbia Asia hospital practising medicine and operating as though nothing happened.

This is not insinuation but a fact known by all Malaysians. The surgeon is Dr Neoh and the simpleton running the place is Fabian Matthews. Just because the investors and owners are Americans, is life in an Islamic country cheaper than that of an American life. This is in your face talk. Homeopathy does not kill but your allopathy kills . In any case the Americans will have to close the hospital and get out and stop using their stupid computer system. Listen to Dr Malik, she is correct to quote Hippocrated, Primum non nocere. You are not only bigoted but a boorish Australian and a very very dangerous idiot.

How does a dodgy surgeon mean that homeopathy works??? It doesn't. By all means expose poor medical practioners like Neoh but Malik also needs to be exposed for promoting nonsense. Yes her homeopathy in itself does not kill but it also does nothing to prevent or cure an illness. Homeopathy is a religion, not a medicine.

Medicines and the manufacturers should be as below:

" In 2008, Dr. Joseph Biderman a renowned child psychiatrist at Harvard Medical School, was discovered to have received $1.4 million from drug companies — in return for helping Johnson and Johnson generate and disseminate data that would support the use of an anti-psychotic drug in children. The drug was Risperdal.

In 2001, Dr Joseph Spinella and four other American doctors pleaded guilty to receiving money in exchange for writing prescriptions for Lupron, which is used to treat prostate cancer. Its manufacturer, Takeda Abbott, paid $875 million to settle.

In January 2009, Eli Lilly paid $1.4 bn to settle charges that it had persuaded doctors to prescribe a schizophrenia and bipolar disorder drug to children and the elderly even though it was known to be risky. The drug was called Zyprexa.

With many more such cases, the pharmaceutical industry is now being called the biggest defrauder of the US government. A quick analysis of the penalties the industry has paid under the False Claims Act (FCA) reveals that it has overtaken even the defence industry. This is extraordinary because the arms sector had long been at the top of the list of defrauders.

According to Public Citizen, a watchdog group, the pharma industry paid almost $ 20bn in penalties in the last two decades for violating the False Claims Act. More than half the fines — a whopping $10.5 bn — were paid by just four companies, GlaxoSmithKline, Pfizer, Eli Lilly and Schering-Plough. Incidentally, almost all these companies have a strong presence in India.

Many remain repeat offenders. Last year, Pfizer was slapped with a $2.3 bn penalty. It was the fourth time it was penalized.

So why do these drug companies continue down this road? Observers say the enormous fines are a pittance compared to profits. Eli Lilly, for instance, paid a fine of just over one-fourth of its $4 bn annual profits from Zyprexa. Dr Sidney Wolfe of Public Citizen says drug companies seem "desperate to maintain their high margins of profit in the face of a dwindling number of important new drugs".

Among the other methods used by the pharma industry to sell drugs is to employ the services of writers like Mark.

I am not nor have I ever received money from the pharma industry. Iqbal is the one who is more likely to be in the pocket of big placebo as he has admitted working for homeopaths for many years. So Iqbal I am not in the pocket of big pharma, I am just not a f...ing moron like you.

"Lately medical establishment seems to have transformed itself into big business. Advertisements go all out to sell drugs as well as technology. The drug and technology people seem to have invaded the medical profession in such a way that recent studies published almost simultaneously in the leading British Journal Lancet and the American New England Journal of Medicine show that medical education is completely under the influence of drug and technology companies.

As if that is not enough, lately reports are pouring in from different sources showing how drug companies get medical scientists to invent new diseases to sell their wares. This was going on in the past in a more dignified but quiet style. Lately it has all come out in the open. The latest one is the example of a new disease, "Female Impotence"- a brainchild of the company selling "viagra" - the latest bomb against erectile dysfunction in the male. Having made a small net profit of $11.2 billion last year, the company has lavished material benefits on six American urologists to create a new myth of women suffering from impotence, albeit silently and, in many cases, unbeknownst to them.

The doctors were made to claim that female impotence is much more widespread than the well understood male impotence! One could always confuse people with complicated statistics, anyway. To achieve this end they attempt to medicalise human life at every stage and create newer problems to sell their drugs. Researchers with close ties to drug companies try to define and classify medical disorders at company sponsored meetings. Practising doctors do not realize the attempts by these drug giants to establish “normative data” for a range of physiological measurements, like normal blood pressure, sugar, cholesterol and sexual response etc. These levels keep changing almost by the day depending upon the need for drug sales. Serum cholesterol level which were at 150-250 mg, have come down below 200 mg lately. I have not been able to find a good scientific reason for this fall except that the cholesterol lowering drug market would have gone up by a few billion dollars. Similar is the story with blood pressure levels and sugar levels."

You have no negative emotional connect with homeopathy to run it down. The only rational can be the financial motivation to continue writing BS.

For the ultimate in financial motivation check out any homeopathy (or any alt med) website for a long list of ineffective products being sold at exorbitant prices - all with the illegal promise of cure.

Barbara Starfield, of the Johns Hopkins Medical School, published one of the greatest articles written in the history of modern medicine in the American Medical Association Journal in the year 2000 (JAMA 2000;284: 483-5) with the title, Is the US Health Care the Best in the World?

Most of the people outside the US and, of course, all Americans, strongly believe that US medicine is the best in the world and is based on evidence based, hi-tech science. Some of the developing countries are aping the US system in toto despite the fact some of them have their own robust indigenous systems in place: the latter being dubbed as unscientific. Modern medicine relies on the conventional reductionist science. The latter is not appropriate for the dynamic non-linear human physiology. The result is the present mess in medical care arena. To compound the damage, medical quick-fix care is labeled as health care: surprisingly the former has very little to do with human health. Rather, it has the capacity to make mankind unhealthy!

Modern medicine is in the clutches of big money business of pharmaceutical drugs and technology. Consequently, modern medicine finds it difficult to look at this problem objectively. Medical education in the US and elsewhere is reported to be completely under the control of these big money sharks by the leading medical journals-The Lancet and the New England Journal of Medicine. Thinking people inside the system fail to look the gift horse in the mouth. Doctors have become “disease inventors” in many cases to help the industry to sell their wares. Here again the inexact science of statistics comes to their help. Controlled studies, accepted as the most scientific method of testing drugs before being let loose on the gullible public are flawed, resulting in new dangerous drug adverse reactions coming up, after the drugs come to the market, causing more than 100,000 deaths in the US alone (total population of 350 million). One could gauge the enormity of this problem in developing countries which have immense faith in this faulty system.

Recent Institute of Medicine report entitled “To Err is Human” showed, for the first time, that an estimated 44,000 to 98,000 Americans die each year due to medical errors. This figure has recently been revised to be around 175,000 annual deaths. The split up of iatrogenic damage is as follows. 12,000 deaths annually due to unnecessary surgery, 7000 from medical errors in hospital admitted patients, 20,000 deaths from other errors in the hospitals, 80,000 deaths from hospital (nosocomial) infections, and 106,000 deaths from nonerror adverse drug reactions unbeknownst to the pharma industry before the drugs were marketed. This brings the total to 225,000 deaths annually from medical errors.

Medical errors rank third as the most important cause of deaths in the US after heart attacks and cancer. Some of the deaths in heart attack and cancer patients are also due to medical errors! This is not the whole story. The above figures only take into consideration hospital admissions. If one were to take the outpatients also the numbers would be shocking, indeed.“It is shown that between 4% to18% of consecutive patients experience adverse effects in out-patient setting, with 116 million extra physician visits, 77 million extra prescriptions, 17 million emergency department visits, 8 million hospitalizations, 3 million long term admissions, 199,000 additional deaths and $ 77 billion in extra costs.”

The Mecca of scientific medicine!!
