Indeed. I think it is absolutely great. People who want to smoke can still do so, they just won't be forcing others who don't care to smoke to inhale their nast fumes! It's about time.......

Hi there!

Thank you for the kind words, by the way.

I oppose bans but understand why they came to be. I would like to see "adult" behavior on both sides, sometime down the road; by relaxing the bans, in favor of allowing for a compromise that will accommodate both nonsmokers AND smokers. There is no reason an establishment that has the ability to choose a smoking or nonsmoking venue, shouldn't be able to exercise their own freedom of choice. I value my freedom to choose as long as it does NOT impede on others.

Have a wonderful day everyone ;-)

Smoking is far healthier than Fascism...

http://www.bmj.com/cgi/content/full/313/7070/...

The Luftwaffe banned smoking in 1938 and the post office did likewise.

Smoking was barred in many workplaces, government offices, hospitals, and rest homes.

The NSDAP (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei) announced a ban on smoking in its offices in 1939, at which time SS chief Heinrich Himmler announced a smoking ban for all uniformed police and SS officers while on duty.15

The Journal of the American Medical Association that year reported Hermann Goering's decree barring soldiers from smoking on the streets, on marches, and on brief off duty periods.16

Sixty of Germany's largest cities banned smoking on street cars in 1941.17

Smoking was banned on all German city trains and buses in 1944, the initiative coming from Hitler himself, who was worried about exposure of young female conductors to tobacco smoke.21

Nazi policies were heralded as marking "the beginning of the end" of tobacco use in Germany.14
----------

What form of government is most likely to declare private property "public" anything...all while feeling the need to "level the playing field"?

Hhhmmmm.

Actually, it went better than I expected, thank you. My daughter and her friends are heading over to clean the old place for the landlord. I have trash and other items to remove but it isn't rented yet so I have a little time.

Agreed, judging by some of the reactions out here, I'm thinking some folks are smoking more than cigarettes. Some smokers who are upset by this legislation choose to totally ignore the fact that they are forcing others to breathe their smoke in public places. Yet they PRETEND to be advocates of "freedom".....yeah whatever. What about the "freedom" of non smokers to breathe clean air when they go out to eat a meal or go to a bar for a drink. I have to wonder if they smoke in their cars when their children or grandchildren are in the back seat, after all they have the right to smoke there right??? Too bad there isn't a cure for STUPID.This law will help to control those individuals who simply don't care and who would never have the CLASS or INTELLIGENCE to wait until they got outside to light up. It all goes back to the concept of being addicted." I've got to have MY nicotine right now and to hell with everyone else around me." It's unfortunate that people lack the decency to do the right thing without government interference.

Ya know what is really sad is that people even have to be told...ya know!

We have sound ordinances, in which the sounds coming from ones property, cannot travel into the space of another.

We have odor ordinances in which obnoxious odors must be in control of those producing them, and having those obnoxious odors invading others space is a violation.

We even have light ordinances in some areas in which lights on your property are not allowed to invade other peoples space.

I guess the bottom line is that, in order to maintain a civil society, and in order to control those fools who are selfish and rude, sadly these rules, restrictions and ordinances become a necessary evil in our society (especially in densely populated areas)!
The smoking bans are a perfect example of that!

Well said. It is unfortunate that it needs to be POINTED OUT AND MADE INTO LAW. Then the real hypocrites hide behind "loss of freedom" as a lame argument. I do know some smokers who are actually very considerate and polite about their habit. I truly appreciate their intelligence. To the other smokers who want to whine about this.....YOU DID IT TO YOURSELVES AND I HAVE ZERO SYMPATHY FOR YOU.

That just breaks my heart, as i do care soooooo much about you and you're sympathy. Why would you be goofy enough to think any one cares about you're sympathy? I'm sure you're family feels the same.

This is the best an anti smoker can come up with.... sad little man you are. I'm sure if you thought hard enough you can do better.
But then again with "Go inhale some cancer" you are not the brightest bulb in the box.

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Aries

It won't be long before you start to feel bored today, unless you can distract yourself - you're switching from one activity to another. Ideally, you should keep yourself amused by doing something that's unusual or challenging, otherwise you'll be tempted to stir up trouble just to see what happens next! Even though you know that's a bad idea, you won't be able to resist, unless you've got something better to do with your time.
