I would suggest that an inmportant part of this story is the name of the person or persons who made this contribution. If the gift is anonymous, then say so.
Good grief!

Amazing but Good News ! It's about time the medical association starts to think about the under funded areas of Ohio . Ohio University and TOhioStateUniversity are two outstanding medical schools ... we need to get Ohio Kids or the youth of Ohio involved in this venture .

"We've never made a gift this large," said Richard A. Vincent, president and CEO of the Columbus-based Osteopathic Heritage Foundations.

Look a gift horse in the mouth. It pays 1/3 of the cost to do the plan. How much will the overall maintenance of this program cost in the future? Oh, never mind what it will cost later we will just kick that can down the road, and raise costs to students.

* There's a major shortage in Family Physicians in Ohio and in the rest of the US.
* At worst, 1/5th to 1/2 of graduates will stay in Ohio which is better than who currently stays in Ohio. Most med school graduates in Ohio end up in Texas or on the Coasts.
* There's no shortage of students vying to get into Medical School. Many students end up at medical schools outside the US because they can't get into US medical schools.
* The cost of attending medical school is a well understood cost by those who attend med school......the cost is not going to increase dramatically to cover the cost of this particular institute.
* Nearly everyone who goes into medicine expects to take out several hundred grand in loans, but they graduate / practice medicine and earn enough to justify the cost. I know starting specialists earning $440K/yr; more than what Family Physicians earn, but starting physicians are never begging in the streets for cash.

I applaud this wonderful donation to an outstanding institution of higher learning. I personally know that my wonderful veterans organization AMVETS has contributed many of thousand of dollars to the diabetic research arm of Ohio University. These monies have come from our charitable accounts and wonderful posts through out the great state of Ohio along with the Department of AMVETS. Being a diabetic/Vietnam Veteran I again want to thank all past donors, future donors, posts, Dept. of AMVETS and ask all veterans who don't belong to the AMVETS to look into joining this wonderful veteran organization. Together with AMVETS and private donations we can make a difference in the research of diabetes and the new medical school at Ohio University.

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Pisces

Having to bow down to convention or limitations is enough to make you want to scream right now, and you'll do your utmost to rebel in any way you can. Be careful about this because you could easily get on the wrong side of someone who has power or authority over you. It feels as though you're battling with forces that want to keep you under control, and you don't like it one bit.
