About 3 days ago I noticed a lump in my lower leg on my calf under the skin. It is hard, round, sometimes red, 1/4" and sensitive to touch. Today I just noticed another lump on my other calf. They seem to be more prominent at night. Has anyone ever experience this before?

Hi we are currently on a mission to get more publicity for people suffering from lipomas. This is why we have established a community for us: LipomaBoard (you can google it). There we speak about the possible causes and alternative treatments since the surgery isn't always the best choice. There are some interesting things known about lipomas which is not commonly shared. At least most doctors don't seems know much nor care...

Hi Everyone I need some help!!! Im starting to freak out!! I have a lump that has developed on my right leg about the middle of the leg. I have had it for a few weeks now, hoping it will go away but it seems to be getting bigger. Its on the front of my leg and is painful when touched. I have been really tired lately and am wondering if these two things are connected. Thanks for your help and for reading this

On my right leg, above my knee, I have what feels. Like a lumpy-fluid build up, I have a very bad back, don't know if its associated in any way, I feel like, if I go to my Dr. She'll think I'm a hypercondriac, any suggestions anyone? Thank you, Betty

I have soft lumps on the outer lower legs about 3 inches above my ankle bone on both legs. They are not red, only hurt a little after pushed on,and vary in size. Some days they look larger than other days.I have seen my doctor, and a bone specialist and a vein specialist and they do not know what these are.Should I be worried?
I have the same thing on my leg, I asked my mom what it was and she said it was a small "fat" buildup. You can get them from being athletic and then stoping for a period of time. She said they may never go away, but you can get surgery to remove them. It is nothing to worry about, just stay active and they may go away.

My background is huge & scary on paper ... but here I go. 53 yr female, gastric bypass in 1998 with several issues. Spring of 2007 began suffering from Malabsorption Syndrome which caused Malnutrition. Use of TPN via a PIIC Line (x's 4). Currently have a good # for total protien (4.3) however Albumin is slightly low (3.1) however this number has been stable now for several months. Suffered SEVERE edema while dealing w/Malnutrition, currently no severe edema, no pitting with current swelling. My question today is regarding a lump that I have found on my left leg about mid calf area but on the outer side of my leg. I noticed the lump when I had the sensation of a spider or insect crawling on my skin, it was in the middle of the lump. The only pain associated with this lump is if I stretch out my foot which in turn slightly stretches that area of my leg. The lump has a rather gelatin feeling to it. I'm concerned as to whether or not this could be a blood clot? Any advice will be appreciated.

I had an accident about 2 months ago and had several bruises on my legs. On the lower side of my right leg just in front of my calf there is still a black and blue mark and a lump under the shin about the size of a golf ball. I have no insurance but this worries me. Can you give me some ideas as to what this might be? I thank you and would appreciate any help you can give me.

I had the same thing some years back, the lump would grow under the skin and it's very painful if putting pressure on it. And of course, it's very ugly too. I went to my doctor and they did biopsy, but they never found out the reason why it's growing. My condition went for almost two years and I had about 10 lumps growing on my lower leg (which was worse than yours).
Then I started taking some antioxidant supplement which really helped me. Now I'm completely cured from that and I'm still taking the same antioxidant supplements since it also helped to improve my skin dramatically, so I am very happy now.

I am 16 and have things like this also. I got them this past summer and I had 4 on my lower legs. I had them for a few months and they just went away but a month later they came back but more and in different spots on my lower legs. They're about the size of a quater some are a lil bigger. If I touch them they hurt. Some days my legs hurt so bad it hurts to run or go upstairs or sometimes even to walk. I don't know what they are and niether does my doctor. He just puts me on steroids to make them go down but they just pop back up. Let me know if u get any info on it.

Sounds familiar to me too

I started getting lumps (painful and tender to the touch) as well as a large ugly bruise after I started taking Orthovisc injections to my knees to mitigate my arthritis. I am not on birth control pills and all other medications have been taking for a long time with no adverse effects. This is the only new thing I started . it is a series of three shots to the knee to replace the synovial fluid. The doctors have diagnosed it as Erythema Nodosum and say it is a reaction to a new drug or some infection. Since I have nto fallen sick recently, and have not changed my medication in any way - the Orthovisc must be the cause. Anybody else have similar experiences?

I also have a pretty large lump on my shin on my right leg. It is a bit larger than a half-dollar and stays very tender. It appears a little red. Sometimes the pain seems to radiate from the lump all the way to my knee and all the way around my calf. I am also on birth control to help slow the growth of endometriosis and I smoke. I have been worried that it may be a blood clot and am not sure if I should see a doctor immediately or if I am okay to wait until my appointment in the middle of November.

I have a lump the size of two quarters in my left lower inside leg. It is red and bruised and hurts quite a bit. It started in the summer circling around a mole and has now migrated up my leg. Looks more red and hurts more than ever. It's a very hard lump that has grown in size. My doctor had given me antibiotics and told me to put heat on it in the summer. This didn't do a thing. I don't take any medication at all. Can anyone help me determine what this is?

Erin,
I really need your help. You actually sound like my twin. I am 23 also and i was on the patch and smoking for a few months at the same time. Also, i was diagnosed with IBS over a year ago. I have been getting these bumps for over a month the same as you described and was put on steroids at first to stop their growth but now they are back and I don't know what to do. What did you do? Thanks for your help!

I highly suggest that you see your primary care physician. I am a Board Certified RN in Florida. These symptoms could be serious (for example, cellulitis or DVT.) Cellulitis is a skin infection caused by bacterial exposure and can be treated with antibiotics. DVT, or Deep Vein Thrombosis, can be a serious health threat. This is a blood clot in a deep vein. You stated that you smoke and are on birth control. This information tells me you are at increased risk for DVT. See a doctor ASAP. IF it is DVT, the clot can break away in your vein and cause a pulmonary ebolism (clot in a lung) or go to your brain and cause a stroke. a PE or cerebral ebolism is LIFE THREATENING. Go to a doctor! Good Luck.
Sincerely, LMT

Hello, I'm LMT and an RN-BC in Orlando. You need to see a doctor. Because you smoke and are on birth control, you are at HIGH RISK for DVT (deep vein thrombosis). These clots can form in the deep veins of your lower legs. Please see a doctor! If it is a DVT, this condition can be LIFE THREATENING. Sincerely, LMT
