First a picture:
http://homepage.mac.com/nemesis_256/dryskin.j... This started way back around March of this year. First I tried putting hand lotion on it to moisturize it, but all that did was temporarily get rid of the flakes. A few months later, I got mad enough about it, so I looked up about similar problems online, and I found out about Aquaphor Healing Ointment. This stuff works, and my skin gets 100% back to normal, but when I stop using it, the dry skin comes back. So now I need another solution, I don't want to have to use this cream for the rest of my life. I've got two other creams, but I don't know if they'll do anything good. They're antifungal cream (active ingredient is 1% tolnaftate) and triple antibiotic ointment (bacitracin, neomycin, and polymyxin b). Would these help? Would anything else help? |

Well it seems there's no replies yet, but here's an update.
I tried those two other creams I have. The antifungal one dried out quickly, and made my skin very itch. It also got it white (dry) wherever I applied it. So I cleaned off that stuff quickly. The other one had no effect immediately, but the next morning when I woke up the skin was drier than it should be . It had a similar flaky look, with maybe a bit more flakes. Should they not do this, or do I kinda need it to flake up so it all falls off? |

Does anyone know if rubbing alcohol really works? I also have flaking on my nose and on my forehead, but it's not dry, and the flakes of skin are quite fine, and very annoying when trying to apply makeup. I can also see whenever I am in the sun that the tiny flakes are also appearing on my arms, although they are harder to notice. I have a long history of skin problems and have tried hydrocortisone, moisturisers, exfoliants, aloevera, nappy-rash cream, apple cider vinegar (don't try that - it hurts!), some thick vaseline-type "natural" remedies, and many many more things, but nothing ever seems to work. If anyone has any tips please email me at psych3d@hotmail.com - I'm extremely desperate for a miracle cure!

Judged: 2 2 1 I too have suffered with dry, itchy skin around my nose and found this methosd very helpful: 1. Use more gentle and mild sopas and cleansers, and only wash your face in warm water. 2. Use a gentle facial scrub to remoce and flaky bits. 3 Invest in a good helaing product (I used "Lucas's Paw Paw Ointment")and use sparingly when you need to. Hope I helped! Sarah xx |

I have very itchy skin inside my nose and around the crease of the outside! I've tried everything, antifungals, bacitracin, my sinuses are also draining and when I sleep at night they must drain, and when I get up my nose is all stuffed up inside (just on the left) How do I make this awful itch go away once and for all?
