I know someone who had the same problem, except in the back his head, at the top of his spine. This condition can happen in either location. Misguided info! Crap! Really! You have a PHD from where? TAKE IT FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH! If you don't need the info. than disregard it! But don't act like everybody else who looks on these sites for information should think that their problem is as insignficant as yours. Look it up and get back to this site with your new revelations on this problem. In case your PHD didn't cover it,: AVM's or AVF's, you can start by looking into those 3 LETTERS. So Jay, hopefully you do your homework and respond back Truefully about what you are giong to find out about those 3 LETTERS!

I've only seen "ONE POST" from him. Not seen any opinions on anything or anyone else's symptoms either! Misguided Info and Crap! WHERE and WHEN DID YOU RECV. YOUR PHD! TAKE IT FOR WHAT IT"S WORTH Jay! IF YOU DON'T NEED THE INFO. THAT SOMEONE IS SHARING, THAN DON'T USE IT! I know someone who a similar problem. His was located in the back of his head, at the top of his spine. If he had listened to your CRAP, he might not be here today! People go on this site for info. related to their symptoms. Maybe their SYMPTOMS aren't as insignificant as yours but maybe a little info. about an unknown problem could save a parent or even a child's life. Your degree should have covered these 3 LETTERS: AVM's and AVF's. Do some Research Jay, before you refute what someone else has to say! Once you do your Homework, answer back to this site Truefully and tell everybody how 100% in-accurate your opinion Really Is on these 3 LETTERS!

At first it looked like an internal pimple. About 3 weeks later I notice a vein showing on the left side of my temple. Like many of you have mentioned maybe it has something to do with allergies. I moved to this apartment about 2 years ago. About 7 months ago I started sneezing a lot especially at night time my nose gets really stuffy to the point that I can't breathe. We get and advertising paper every week at my house. Everybody that lives in Florida gets one. I was reading on one of the advertisements that if you suffer from nasal problems, migraines eye irritation, allergies, asthma, or bronchitis you may need air duct cleaning on your air conditioner. Well out of everything that this paper mentioned I have nasal problems and allergies. I am going to call this people tomorrow and have them clean the air conditioner for me; they will do it for $35.00. It's worth the money because I have a very good feeling that this is what is causing my allergies which in result now I also have a popped vein on the left side of my temple due to so much sneezing. I will also go see my health doctor and see if she can help me with the vein. I will keep you guys posted after I see the result on cleaning my AC and on the doctor’s advice. I though I was alone on this but after reading all this information you guys posted at least I am not alone .

There is treatment that you can have done that can help you get rid of the varicose facial veins once and for all!

One way to do it, is by Electrosurgery. This is done by electric currents that are moved through the face by a hand held needle. As you may have guessed, when electric current is applied to a blood vein, it destroys it on impact. The only problem with this method is that it is actually pretty painful. Most people tend to put up with the short lived pain, because this is one of the quicks methods to get rid of your varicose veins. Sometimes tiny scabs will form on the face, but these heal pretty quickly and usually without scarring. You can also choose to do laser surgery. However, just like the Electrosurgery, side effects can include pain. Also, since it works slower than the Electrosurgery, it is not a very common choice.

I've never heard of Electrosurgery, do you know of a web site where I can get info?
I've been looking into CoolGlide laser for such veins. Hard to find a doctor that likes to mess with the larger reticular veins on the face.
Know of only one, Dr. Berman and he charges $800 to zap one vein on each temple. Seems rather pricey, tho the pictures are imprssive on his site.

I see some actors with these veins - if there not causing a problem - don't worry about them - get on with your life. I have them on one side of my head - I had a brain tumor removed 4 years ago and I had the veins before that. I am just glad to be alive !

Nicole maybe you should research your own" three letter words" and realise they are quite different to what "insignificant" symptoms we have or had and if you researched into this forum you would see a lot of posts by me and others with similar "insignificant" symptoms . I do not have a phd or medical qualifications and I bet you don't have either but what I do have is PRACTICAL FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE of this and I bet you don't !!! This is a forum for people with temporal(side of head)artery branches which might be insignificant to what your friend had but very different and not the symptom of any neurological impending doom!!!

Research getting fat injected in your face. This procedure is done with deep lines and aging skin. I too have the veins in my temples. I noticed them after I lost weight.

Hey, I have very recently had some vein on forehead by temple problems. They are in two places on the right and they hurt a little. I'm 37 years old. My comments below are not for anyone who has had veins since a kid.

I have found that stress, booze, ciggarros can make it worse.

So my guess is after reading many posts, its the bodies way of saying slow down!!

I am drinking much less, I'm off the cigs, but it's early days.I will post again if there is any significant progress.

One last thing, I was once told by a good Dr, "if your body is telling you something, listen to it!"

Wow. I feel like I've finally found my tribe! I also am a lean, athletic woman. I've had enlarged veins since my teens. Just recently I had rearranged my bed position & whileI I was laying on my side, i caught a glimpse of my face in a closet mirror. I WAS HORRIFIRED! My gawd, two huge veins going up the center of my forehead were so large that II was frightening to look at. I can only imagine what some poor guy must have thought having to look at them during....fun 'activities'. Geez. Now reading online here, there are no realizations solutions?

Hello all!

Appointment is scheduled for the sta! Will share more once I've had it!!

To answer your question, I've consulted with one surgeon who said they are resolvable via plastic surgery. However, it's a fairly daunting operation! So its a tough call!!

Hi also developed those gross bulging veins on my forehead. I found out that mine were caused by MSG! I developed an MSG sensitivity. Once I cut out all msg out of my diet. the veins went down within a week. If I ingest msg, I will have a minimum of a 3 days of "veining out." Because there is no truth in labeling when it comes to msg, you need to watch out for foods containing these ingredients:natural flavors/flavoring yeast extract, yeast nutrients, hydrolized protein, sodium bicarbonate, etc. Do web research to get full info on msg. Tons of restaurants use msg in their food as well. Doctor said that because MSG is affecting me vascularly, i may be more prone to a stroke at some point from msg ingestion. For me personally, i seem to only react to "added" msg. Naturally occurring free glutamates (msg) found in foods as a result of being process such as soy sauce and non-fact milks don't seem to affect me at this point. Anything added is like an instant veining out.

I also seem to have the pulsing "w" shaped artery (branch of the superficial temporal artery), but it only flares up to Frankenstein levels about once every month or two, and lasts for about three days. I've been trying to notice patterns with the onset for years, but am only observing weak correlations. Last time, I tried applying nasal spray (oxymetazoline hydrochloride) and prep H and hydrocortisone, but none had any effect. I'm very surprised and how little information seems to be available on this.

To those of you who have this problem (the w shaped artery not veins), could you please tell me...

Is it present constantly or does it flare up? If it flares up, how often? And do you notice anything that precedes it, say in your diet, or activity or environment?

I went to see the plastic surgeon who carried out Graham's section removal. He was of the opinion that this would definitely be successful, and that ligating or tying knots or whatever it's called would not be the answer. He said he has done half a dozen of these procedures now, and not experienced a single problem, he was very positive and said there's no way the problem would persist once the removal is done. I am 33, and in the last 18 months have done extreme cardio workouts on a daily basis, resulting in a 'perfect' body, but the dreaded veins appeared on each temple and are especially bad after a work out, reaching all the way to the scalp. There is zero doubt that it is linked to the strenuous exercise as they weren't there before. I have a shaved head, so the scarring is a worry, he said I'd have two small scars on the right side, and one on the left. Apparently the artery splits into teo above the ear, one half running along the temple and up to your scalp (visible in our cases) whilst the other half goes around the back of your head,(non visible). He recommended general anaesthetic, the op would last about an hour, you'd be going home that evening, and he'd take the stitches out a week later. Cost would be roughly £2,000. I think I'm gonna get it done, my only worries are the scarring and whether I could still exercise so religiously again for fear of a new vein or artery suddenly popping up somewhere else to compensate. Sorry for the long post, hope this helps with some of the questions, we're all in this together!

Hi floyd, I had ligation about 18 months ago now and still have slightly visible although a lot shorter branches. I was like you and had pipelines on both sides after exercise but no more! What I will say to you is that the Y branch at your ear is the actual temporal artery and the ones on the side of your head are branches off this. I have noticed that after exercise or hot places this temporal artery becomes quite visible running straight up from my ear on one side but fades when I've cooled. I'm just letting you know as this might turn into a permanently visible pipeline if you are a gym nut! Scars fade, I have one visible and I'm a shaved egg as well but it doesn't bother me at all knowing the worms are gone!! Good luck with your op mate!

Cheers Jay, I'm glad you are happy with how it went, another concern of mine is the recovery period. I know we all heal at a different rate but how long do you think realistically I would be off work for? I work in an office and don't really want to walk around looking like I've had a lobotomy! Do you think I could be back at the desk in a couple of weeks with just the small scars and no swelling, discolouring or bruises etc? Thanks again

Daily Horoscope for June 2

It won't be long before you start to feel bored today, unless you can distract yourself - you're switching from one activity to another. Ideally, you should keep yourself amused by doing something that's unusual or challenging, otherwise you'll be tempted to stir up trouble just to see what happens next! Even though you know that's a bad idea, you won't be able to resist, unless you've got something better to do with your time.
