All you have to do is call their appointment line. I asked if parents were allowed in the exam room and was told "NO".

I have had the same problem. I felt pressured and was told that the procedure had to be done that day. Me thinking,' how did this happen, how did i let my child's teeth rot to the point where he needs 8 crowns?' I had taken him to a dentist only 6 months prior and they told me his teeth were fine. Then a small spot appeard on one of his molars so I took him to Kool smiles. When I was called to get him after the procedure, he was standing alone in the corridor, crying and saying, "Mom, how could you let this happen to me?" My heart broke into a million pieces seeing my child hurt like that. He later told me that hey held him down with such force that he thought he was going to smother. I was not allowed back there and now that I have requested copies of xrays and file, no one is returning my calls. I wonder if they use the same xray to guilt parents into the procedure. I know, now, in my heart that he did not need 8 crowns. Will someone team up with me to shut them down and STOP the abuse? Not even an adult would be able to handle 8 crowns at one time.

I took my child to Kool Smiles and he did great. he said that he really liked going there. they told me they needed to do a root canal and i said that was fine to do the procedure. they went over everything with me and told me they would use a "Papoose board" a physical restraint a long board where he would be wrapped from shoulder to toes i told them they would not be allowed to do that. they then proceeded to tell me that if i did not agree to let them do it they would not work on my child. i called the dentist out of a room so we could discuss this and this dentist told me i had to give them permission or they would not work on him. a dentist can be a frightening thing for a child why should a dentist be allowed to tie a child to a table with a drill in their hand. we have not been back since then.

Never think to take your kids to Kool Smiles. They don't know how to treat a child. Even we adults scar to see a dentist forget kids. If they don't know how to treat a child I don't know why they are in business.

Please do not take your kids to Kool Smiles they are so rude, disgusting and discourteous with kids!

Kool Smiles called to confirm the appointment. Then I got a second phone call instantly after confirming. They asked for all the insurance information ss. number, policy number, birth date, group number to verify. Upon arriving i was told to write the same information I had given them on my cell phone limited daytime minutes earlier that morning. After a time they call me up there to tell me the insurance information i had given them (twice) was only medical. My daughter did get her teeth cleaned and no cavities. My daughter would kill me if I didn't add her complaints on here as well. The Kool Smile's commercial DOES NOT do them justice. None of there toys work. I don't know what is worse, toys that have been given no consideration, or leaving the broke toys for other kids to tear it down to its innards.

Kool Smiles is just making money off of you. They don't care about the children's teeth. Parents, please don't take your children to them. Find another dentist who really cares. Just ask important questions before the dentist works on the kid's teeth. Not very many dentists care. We live in a greedy world.

I took my child to the Kool Smiles in COlonial Heights VA. First, the people who work there remind me of the workers who shout and hit children in daycares or nursing homes that are caught on camera. They took my son back for his first dentist visit. None of the employees knew what they were doing. They were supposed ot take xrays and my son said he was choking on the bite wings and the lasy screamed at him that he was a baby and to go sit in a chair in the clenaing area. She refused to take his x-rays. Mind you all I saw was him come out, sit in a chair and he was crying. I then saw another lady come over to clean his teeth. Next thing you knw she took him to a room in the back where I could not see. He was crying harder at this point. I went to the front desk and asked where they took him becuase I saw that he was upset. The lasy told me that they took him to the "Quiet Room". When I asked why no one came to get me I was told "Well we don't let parents back there". She went in the back then returned to tell me I could go back. I calmed my son down and had to tell the tech that x-rays were not taken and that they needed to use smaller bite wings for the x-rays. She proceeded to be very nasty and tell me that the x-rays would not come out right I had to tell her that what ever came out woul dhave to suffuce. She was nasty to my son the whole time she was cleaning his teeth, snapping at him to keep his mouth open, more and more nasty the more she had to tell him (keep in mind this is my childs first visit EVER) Next thing you know I here someone yelling at a child who was crying to :"Shut up with that crying" I thought it was a parent because of the way this lady was yelling the the child. Next thing you know I hear her say "Do you want your mom to come back here and see you crying like a baby?" I had it and walked out. My first matter of buisness is to call who ever I can to get this story out. This place should not be in buisness anywhere in the US. These people are not allowed to treat our children this way. All it takes is ONE bad experience an dthe children are scared of dentist forever, hence all the dentist office who offer sedation. Kool Smiles is a a horrible place to take your children!!

So what's the big deal? Jealous? Probably the same treatment the brat gets at home.

Kool Smile dentists are "general dentists". I`m not sure if they`re allowed to treat kids by low, but everybody should know that to be able to treat kids in the right way a dentist should attend one or two more years of dedicated training. kool Smile dentists don`t have such additional training. Would you bring your child to unqualified dentists? I did, but when I realized that, and considering the 5 crowns they put on my 9 yrs child`s mouth (another dentist told me kids shouldn`t have crowns at all), I won`t do the same bad mistake again.

Never ever take your child to Kool Smile!! I took my 5 year old daughter for a regular 6 months check-up and cleaning. They found lots of cavities, an assistent said my girl needs 6 metal cups on her teeth. It was hard for me to believe it, especially that I take a good care of her teeth. So I took a second opinion, and I am glad I did. The doctor found only one little cavity! He showed it to me on x-ray . I was in shock!! This is outrageos!!! My little girl would have her healthy teeth trimmed all around and glued the metal cups on them!!! Why? So that Kool Smile can have more money!!! I can't believe it. How dr. Newman can sleep at night??? I will never take my girl to that place. I know there are good , very good dentists over there too, but I don't want to risk my child's teeth.

They pulled out a perfectly good permanent molar out of my grandson's mouth. Because his mother now has custody, i cannot sue, but I should have seen a lawyer immediayely. They also tried to get me to approve putting 6 crowns on baby teeth in his brother's mouth. I said no and went back to their original dentist.
Parents need to find regular dentists in the area and stay away from Kool Smiles. Or go to the clinic.
