Government (veterans) health care better than private

Full story: The Ukiah Daily Journal

Time for a reality check. I work a union job and have medical benefits. The sad reality is that as corporations get stronger, unions have been getting weaker and so too have my benefits.

Teresa's experience with our corporate controlled health care system is (unfortuanately) not unusual at all. Insurance companies make money by denying payment of reasonable claims, not by providing comfort as they claim in their advertising.

It was once called Usury when a corporations charged excessive interest for their services.

Usury must become law again and soon.

If we do not learn to control corporate greed, democracy in our country will increasingly become obsolete.

First thing you do is have your doctor recommend the annual checkup……Simple……..How is that a problem????
Yes you premiums are going up.
California spent 20 billion dollars last year for illegals alone.
Eliminating that and the ambulance chasing lawyers would cut health cost in half……………….

Now here is the V.A. care.

My father is in his middle eighties.
And until ten years ago was fit and strong.
Normal blood pressure and heart rate.
Passed his contractor test in Oregon at age 73 and his real estate license at 77.

Recently he was told by the V.A hospital that his kidney was failing and he should prepare his will.
He came down to visit me on August 9 and I took him to see a doctor.
The doctor drew blood and a couple hours later met with us with the results.
Urea 173 normal should be 10 to 50
Creatinnina 6 normal should be .5 to 1.3
Sodium 194 normal should be 136 to 145
Potasio 6.8 normal should be 3.5 to 5.5
Signs of kidneys not functioning properly

The doctor asks my dad about water intake and urination.
He told them for the last ten years it was getting harder and harder to urinate and the doctors told him to drink less water.
We brought his ten bottles of drugs the V.A. had given him and the doctor checked them out.
High blood pressure meds.
Heart meds
Two prostrate meds.
The doctor put in a cathedor and drained his bladder and he is still wearing it because if they take it out he cant urinate
New blood test today is perfect his kidneys are Functioning normally.
He no longer is taking heart or blood pressure meds as he has stabilized that by being able to urinate.
For a week myself, my dad and the doctor have called the V.A. hospital in Romberg Or, to see if they would schedule prostrate surgery and cannot get a response.
Monday we are scheduling the surgery here in Puerto Vallarta and he will pay for it.
And not have to carry a bag

The V.A. knew he had prostrate problems, they gave him drugs for it
They never offered surgery.
They never even offered a cathode.
As his blood got poisoned they just gave him meds.

There is nothing wrong with his kidneys except he could not urinate…….
So they told him to go home and die………
Why??????
Is the surgery that costly? Is he too old?

We have been calling his friends from up there that go to the V.A. also.
We are hearing what the doctor here says are horror stories.
Two of his friends will be here next week to see a real doctor……..

And you think this is good??????????

I agree with the letter to the editor. I've been cared for exclusively by the VA for the last 13 years and I have not one complaint. 8 surgeries and countless appointments later and great care sums up my experiences.

And people still live in places like Iowa and North Dakota.
They just don’t know any better.

Yup!
And some people even move to mexico to escape reality! But what any of that has to do with the VA care I've received escapes me.

Escape reality????
Only California is real?
What are you talking about??

Because I chose to live in paradise makes this an escape from reality?
Tell that to the millions of Americans that save up their money for a week or two trip here every year.
Or to the millions that all ready live here.
Or to my five year old who is in school today in a class of ten with two teachers and an assistant.

Now let me answer your question.
If someone lives in North Dakota and has never viseted California they may believe that North Dakota has the best weather in the world..

If you think that the private run American health care system is SOOOO great, then why did your dad have to go to Mexico to get care? Why didn't get just leave the VA and go some place private? There is no mandate that he HAD to go to the VA at all. So where are your great saviors, the private insurance companies, when your dad needed them, huh?

Your argument against the VA and universal health care just do not add up. If anything, your story proves the level of disfunction that exists in the American system. If our system works so great, as you claim, then why didn't he stay in the country and get some of that great private health care you seem to love so much?

He came here to see me after the V.A. told him to go home and die.
I took him to doctors here as this is where I live.

He does not have insurance in the states because he has V.A so it would be very costly.

Today they did a blood test from the bone marrow to test for leukemia and other cancers.
It came back negative………

The only problem 100% sure is prostrate.
To get him in to the V.A. just to be checked would be the end of September.
Then schedule the surgery 3 to 4 months out.
That is crazy…………The surgery would be 20k in the USA in private and laser surgery is 2k here.

I do not think the health care system is great in the USA……………Period.
If you read my post I say I like the system we have here.

All I have said is that when the government gets involved with anything they screw it up.
And the obamacare bill does nothing to lower the cost…………….Period………………….

I have asked this many times.
Someone show me how obamacare will.
1. Lower hospital cost.
2. Lower doctors fees.
3. Lower the cost of pharmaceuticals.

How will obamacare lower the cost of health care to the country????

You don’t see me following anyone……….I lead……..
No wool here.

This is the first topic that savage and I have agreed on……….

Unlike you I have spent hundreds of hours studying this topic.
I was the first to post the bill here for all to read after I had been reading it for days……

Facts……
1. I am all for lowering the cost of health care.
2. I am for FREE health care for every citizen that can’t afford it
3. I have fought for years for FRRE preventive care for all citizens.
4. I am for health education in all schools.
5. I am for placing a tax on the fast food industry to level the playing field. As long as it is cheaper and faster to go to mcdonalds than to eat healthy the country will have a huge problem.
6. I am for tax breaks for new fast and healthy food industry. And I don’t mean Subway.
7. Stopping the ambulance chasing lawyers

The problem I have with the health care bills that are on the table now is they do not address any of these things.
It will not lower the cost of health care.
I have sent a letter to every senator and congress person that supports these bills and asked them the same question I have been posting here.
I have received a few responses but not one of them has answered my question and no one here has either.

How will this bill?
1. Lower the cost of health care for the USA
2. Lower the cost of pharmaceuticals.
3. Lower the cost that hospitals charge.
4. Lower the cost that doctors charge
Without the quality suffering…………..

EXACTLY. He is in the same boat that a lot of other people are in. Your story is the very definition of irony.

Here you are ranting and raving every day, spamming these boards with your ridiculous lies and misinformation about the evils of socialized medicine, yet it your own father had to leave the US and go to a country with socialized medicine to get care.

Your story just goes to prove how messed up the private insurance industry in America is.

maybe we can all become wards of the state, if the government gets their way every taxpayer will see an increase, but guess what, the non producers like you and fu wont, you will continue to leech off of the producers. what will you do if the producers quit producing??? THIS IS PROOF THAT LIBERALS CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT CONSERVATIVES, BUT WE CAN DEFINATELY LIVE WITHOUT YOU. SO GET OFF MY BACK AND GET A JOB, AND QUIT RELYING ON UNCLE OBAMA TO TAKE FROM ME TO GIVE TO YOUR SORRY A S S!!!!!!!!

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Sagittarius

You're feeling ultra optimistic today, which is great for summoning up the necessary energy to do what has to be done. But don't let it go to your head and convince you that you're capable of performing miracles. If you aren't behaving in this way you'll have to cope with someone who has a swollen head and thinks they're the cat's whiskers.
