This is horrendous. What a shame...a sad thing. I am sending prayers to this boys family.
I am a new resident (only a year here) from VA...is there not some type of OSHA-like regulatory inspections that could/should monitor these balconies? I am sure there has to be something similar here in SC...it just seems that this has happenned alot.(balcony falls and porch collapses)

This is a horrible loss. People come here to visit and enjoy a vacation without thinking that something sould happen to them. This boy was pushed, it may have been horse play or a violet attack, to this we are unsure as of now. But I am sure this child or his family never invisioned this coming out of what was I am sure to be a vacation. There will be a lot of trouble caused from the person that pushed him that will involve the innocent bystanders, the friends and hotel staff, although not at fault they will have to go through questioning, etc...and the grief his family and friends will have to endure is indescribeable. My thoughts and prayers go out to all involved in this. And I fully believe that the person responsible for pushing him, even if it was innocent, should be punished to the full extint of the law. If ignored it will go on to happen again. They should pay for what they did to learn a lesson and be made example of.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family and friends of this young man.

Sam, how do you know he was pushed and wasn't jumping from one balcony to another. I'm not questioning you. I'm trying to find out. I know this boy. He's a classmate of my daughter's. We're desperately trying to find out information. Are you there in Myrtle Beach?

Probably would be wise to talk to the police if you know something about this Sam. It sounds like your testimony would be valuable.

This is very tragic and since my family & our neighbors all know this boy it has really hit home! So far we don't have any word as to what event actually took place or as to how he fell but one thing is for sure, lives will be changed forever. I am a mother of 3 and I can not even fathom what his parents are going to go through. Senior Trip is suppose to be fun not ending in tragedy. The teens in our hometown are in great mourning right now. Please pray for them!

I agree with Sam, his "friends" looked pretty guilty. I saw one of them run out on the beach before the cops got there....looked like he was running from something to me....the rest kinda split back to the street....

If anyone saw what happened please go to the police if there was foulplay! If he was pushed it needs to be addressed. Did anyone see anything?

But these kids just saw him fall 6 floors down to his death. I woulda been freakin out too. Is there something else though that needs to be said about the situation. Not speculation.

The angle of the building would make it hard for anyone on the outside to see if he was pushed. We just saw him fly head first out the window. The kids up there that were looking down (his "friends") are the only ones who knew what really happened. It will be interesting to see if the autopsy shows alcohol...

My child is staying at this hotel and called to tell me of the news. I do not know this teenager, but it just makes me so sad to hear of a young person's life ending so soon. My thoughts go out to his parent's and family. I can't imagine getting this news. I can't wait to see my child this weekend and again tell them how much I love them and they mean to me. I had a talk before they left and said anything can happen please be careful but never thought they would see anything like this.

btw, Mink, he wasn't jumping from one balcony to another. He jumped out the frigging window. There was like a 16foot gap to the next building, and it was just a solid wall of concrete. One of his friends that ran out onto the beach was talking on his cell phone about wrestling....you draw the conclusion
