I am a 51 year old smoker, drinker. I have been using Zelnorm for two years. It has absolutely changed my life. I have had problems with regular movements since I was 16. My doctor reccomended Zelnorm and I have never felt better in my life. I'm more active, because my system is clean. It makes a big difference in your day to day activities. I have heart disease on both my mother and fathers side. I have had no symptoms of dizziness, chest pains shortness of breath except for the dog gone cigarettes.
Novartis do the research, nothing else is currently on the market that is a gentle on my system as Zelnorm. I currently take one pill a day, that's all it takes to keep me regular. I'm way too busy to start having movement problems again. Get busy and thank you.

My mother had been on Zelnorm 6mg twice a day.
While on it, she suffered 2 strokes. She does not have cardiovascular history, no high cholesterol/high blood pressure. Doesn't smoke or drink and is a very health eater. She swims daily, talks the stairs to her 9th floor condo, walked 5 k per day. As her Dr.'s have said, they are shocked that she had these strokes, as she is not a likely candidate. It is understanding that those who had success with Zelnorm are upset that it is no longer available. But cardiovascular problems are not reversable. I hope that you can find a safer alternative to deal with your symptoms.

Please put zelnorm back on the market for those who have disabling pain. I am now unable to even walk with out the help from a PCA due to pain since I have been off of zelnorm. I haven't eaten in 4 days. My doctor has nothing more to offer me. Many doctors including my GI doctor from the Mayo Clinic misdiagnosed me and actually told me to eat more fiber; something which made things worse. I don't think many doctors understand how disabling this can be. Some people simply don't have other options and are in urgent need. I have a severe immune disease with nerve damage! I need to sleep, eat, and have bowel movements.
I agree, Zelnorm is the only relief I have ever found to help. PLEASE PUT IT BACK ON THE MARKET. There may be worse problems with me and others without this drug, because there is nothing else out there that will work. I agree with the lady that mentioned to sign a waver about medical issues. But what drug dont have side affects, they all do. Drugs affect all people differently. I NEED ZELNORM IM MISERABLE.

I COULDNT AGREE MORE. ZELNORM WAS A MIRACLE DRUG AND FOR THE FIRST TIME I WAS FEELING RELIEF AND ENERGETIC AND NOT HAVING AS MANY HEADACHES. SINCE THEYVE TAKEN THIS OFF THE MARKET IM FEELING AWFUL AND I CANNOT CONTINUE TO GO MUCH LONGER WITHOUT ZELNORM. NOTHING ELSE WORKS AT ALL. PLEASE GET IT BACK BEFORE MORE PEOPLE START HAVING WORSE BOWEL PROBLEMS. HELP HELP HELP ARE THERE ANY ANSWERS WHAT ARE THEY GOING TO DO ABOUT THIS, AND WHY ARE THEY LEAVING EVERYBODY NOT KNOWING WHAT THEY ARE TO DO THAT WILL GIVE YOU THE SAME DAILY RELIEF AS ZELNORM. IM SORRY FOR PATIENTS HAVING THE HEART PROBLEMS, BUT WHAT ABOUT US THAT WERE DOING GOOD ON ZELNORM AND FINDING THE ONLY RELIEF OUT THERE THAT WORKS. SOMEONE HAS TO ANSWER AND NOT MAKE US WAIT OR POSSIBLY TRY THIS AND TRY THAT, WHEN NOTHING ELSE HAS WORKED UNTIL ZELNORM CAME OUT. I AM VERY ANGRY. I WAS FEELING GREAT WHILE TAKING THIS DRUG AND NOW IM MISERABLE AND CANNOT FUNCTION DAILY. IM SICK TO MY STOMACH, HEADACHES, BLOATED, TIRED. I EVEN HAD A 5 MINUTE FREE MASSAGE AT A SHOP AND WHILE THE GUY WAS MASSAGING MY LOW BACK ASKED ME IF IM HAVING TR0UBLES IN THIS AREA AND I ASKED HIM HOW HE KNEW AND HE SAID HE COULD FEEL THAT I HAVE PROBLEMS IN THIS AREA, I WAS AMAZED, AND YES I AM HAVING TROUBLE AGAIN, BECAUSE THERE IS NOTHING OUT THERE THAT IS LIKE ZELNORM AND GAVE THE INSTANT RELIEF, SO PLEASE KEEP THE GREAT RESPONSES COMING THRU. WE NEED ZELNORM BACK.

I have been trying to get Zelnorm.
I have suffered from IBS-C since the age of 4 and have gone to gastro drs. since them. First tests indicated that I had enlarged bowels 3x the size of an average person, therefore I went to the bathroom every 2-3+ weeks. I tried everything matamucil, citracel, stool softeners fibercon, Phillips MOM, Miralax etc. the only med that relieved my pain along with the anti constipatin meds was Zelnorm. It was the right drug for me,I went for about 1 1/2 years without major spasms.
I am so updset that I can no longer get it, I BEGGED my doctor, he said the FDA wasn't approving any special cases since June.
I am thinking about having my friend who is going overseas get me some.
My doctor now put me on 4 tablespoons of lactulose, which worked for 4 days, then stopped working..
I would love to get any recommendations from readers who have extreme IBS-C.
Has anyone beeen successful with a homeopathic dr.?

THankyou.

Hi! I've had diabetes for 46 years and suffer from gastroparesis as well. After years of discomfort and taking Reglan and Nexium, I was given Zelnorm (in February 2007) only to discover about 3 months later that it was taken off the market. I have been miserable, being constantly bloated, not being able to sit because of the pain, not being able to eat more than a spoonful of food or drinking a glass of water. I just saw a website for a petition to pass a drug called "Domperidone", which is supposed to be better than Zelnorm. Here is the website:
http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/Domperidon...
I've also googled a homeopathic med for GP called "Astratin".(astratin.com ) I am definitely going to check that one out. I've also heard that acupuncture works on GP. I'm just discovering all this tonight. I'm glad to hear that I'm not alone...it's a miserable way to live. To be honest, I've been ok for the past week because I found a supply of Zelnorm that was given to me as samples, so I'm breaking them in half...if I need it, I take it. If not, then I save it. But I want to get off the Reglan because it makes me shake and makes me sluggish as well. I had my heart checked after taking Zelnorm and I'm good! I'm as desperate as the rest of you to find a way to be able to do something for GP. Blessings to all!

My doctor helped me get Domperidone after Reglan was causing bad side effects. I had to get it from the UK. The trouble is that after a short period of time, I was admitted into the hospital for some abnormal heart rhythms and had to stop taking it immediately. They did an angiograph and there wasn't any significant blockage. They did give me 4 big potassium pills in the hospital and that seemed to straighten out the heart issues. I have gastroparesis. I'm guessing that some of the heart issues are the same ones that affect anorexics because of the vomiting and the electrolytes getting out of balance.

I'd like to hear anything I can about astratin. I know that companies push snake-oil to the desperate and those of us with gastroparesis certainly qualify as desperate.

Well, I've just discovered an alternative, prescribed by doctors, here in the US. It's called "Amitiza" (lubiprostone). It does the same that Zelnorm did. Used for bloating, constipation, nausea, IBS, and more. I'm going to go to my GI and ask him, but my pharmacist said this would be a good alternative. Check out the following sites:

http://www.everydayhealth.com/PublicSite/Drug...

Also check out:

I hope this helps out most of you. I really feel that there is now hope!

Blessings,
DD
