Isn't it amazing that with ALL the evidence and all of our medical records, whether its vaginal, hernia, bladder, Ethicon, Kugel or whatever mesh, that the medical and manufacturering community STILL will not acknowledge or take possesion of this mesh problem? When it all comes down they will blame us before they will even begin to look at where the real problem started. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Mesh Victim, if you were to go on Topix for the first time and read my post it says FOR ALL WOMEN. My goal on Topix is to try and help new mesh victims. All meshed up could use your help getting disability and making phone calls to law firms for him. Put your time to good use and contact him. We all had to fight for our disability and without connections you will be denied. All meshed up you need help with your paper work. After four trys i went in front of a tribunal and explained the multiple injurys this mesh caused me,i won.Remember the people on the tribunal are on your side and if you show the damage the mesh caused you will win. Not sure if your system is the same as ours but remember i told you i have my appeal papers that will show you how to present your case. Keep your head up.
I am trying to get disability myself, i was denied twice then hired a lawyer and was denied again and it being appealed now. But i am told deny rate is 80% for appeal as well. It seems unless your deaths door they wont approve, it should also be for people who cant work but im sure because few have abused the aystem, legitimate cases gwt denied as well.
I should write and get much literature about the dangers of mesh products but i dont know why i cant get myself to be more productive. Perhaps my physical health problems have messed up my emotional & mental health. Its so hard to just get out of bed. As im typing this i am in bed using my smart phone. Im interested to find out how you presented your case.

Good luck. My husband has had a disabled knee for 10 years. he applied for disability 10 years ago. he got his denial letter two weeks ago. They shoved him under a bunch of other files. But, he still worked with massive pain because he had a family to support. hes not a lazy man, and has adapted to pain. But the mesh damage pain is beyond anything hes ever experienced. Now this, he cant work at all because of the damage done by his mesh. Its just horrid to know that something meant to help has destroyed 1000's of lives. It does cause major depression, your life is gone they way you knew life is gone and people lose their homes, property, even their spouses. Im in this with him because I stand by my vows to love him through anything and everything. he is precious to me. But, Ive fought depression since this whole mesh mess started. Its hard on families as well.uge effect on loved ones.

It is statistically impossibe that your doctor never had a rejected mesh. He probably says the same thing to all the other patients who have had a mesh rejection or complciation. I am sorry you have that infection but you probably are lucky. It is a nightmare (to put it mildly) when you have mesh rejections and/or complications as I am sure you see from reading this forum. Hope your recovery gets better with time! blessings, Lana Keeton

Lana I agree there are to many victims of mesh for any dr today to claim they have no knowledge or experiences with mesh rejecton

Sad, the surgeon that did your operation, are you still his patient. Remember the system loves paper work. Doctor reports do not spell out the truth because of being sued. In order to win you must have multiple problems. Do you have any friends or relatives that are research analysts. Did the lawyer just send paper work or did you and him go in front of a tribunal. When was your mesh implanted and was it removed. I am going to do some research on your system but i am sure it is the same as ours. The system is set up in their favor and the people are trained well.

Justme, I had the same procedure 2 months after you. It was my 3rd explant of polypropelene and this time the surgeons used Strattice. You mentioned a "full body mesh", is your's a bio mesh? I can feel an amazing differece this time although I to have no core muscle left. I am to start PT this coming week. My incision is having problems with a reaction to the sutures or the glue used but nothing like past problems I've had with deep draining wounds. I was glad to see your report.

Today is my 6th anniversary of when I had my abdominal hernia repair using the Kugel mesh. April Fool's day surprise for sure! I was never informed it had been recalled and there were problems in the design. Although I suffered with pain I believe people thought I was imagining things. Fifteen months ago, however, I almost died. The ring in the mesh had broken and the mesh had pierced my bowel and had became entwined with my "innards'. That was the cause of the pain I had been having. The mesh was removed and I was told I would have to wait up to a year to repair the hernia. Not having insurance I can't afford to repair the damage caused by that mesh and now wobble around like a nine-month pregnant woman. My case was taken by Anapol Schwartz and I was told it was filed in Rhode Island but I haven't heard from them in months. It's so depressing and discouraging.....
Nor-Cal: I am so sorry to read of your pain and the experience that you have had with the hernia mesh repair I too have had a Hernia Mesh Repair with the kugel mesh product My surgery was in December 2004. As recently as Feb 2012, I started experiencing intense pain on my upper right side, with occasional intense pain around the hernia mesh How were you able to find that the mesh had become entwined within your intestines

KugelMeshVictim--it is discovered with surgery. CT scans will not show it. I do not believe MRI's do either (I've never heard of any--if so someone correct me) Your mesh has hardend, the only thing I can think to compare it with is a "shrinky dink".(Remember those?, Possibly a if it had a ring it might have broken at the weld. Also the body will build up scar tissue, adhesions, and then lesions, all entangled like old spider webs in century old barn. My first implant for a ventral hernia was in 2008; I just had my 5th surgery at the end of March. My brother, who had an inguinal repair in 2005, and watched as my nightmare unfolded, has just started experiencing pain such as yours in his groin. In the last 2 months the mesh has developed a distinct hardened edge that one of his doctors was able to feel last week. His is not Kugel Mesh. I'm waiting to find out from him what it is. Hey all of you out there does only the Kugel have the rings? I've never investigated the other products since I've only delt with Kugel and Strattice. If the ring is on another brand I'll look it up.

I feel for all of the mesh Victims, I also have a swollen abdomen for over a year and a half, right at the prior 2004 inquinal hernia operation area. It make me sick and fells like something is cutting me, and no doctor except Dr. Peterson in Vagas just talking with him on the phone said more than likly it's the mesh. It was discribed as if you would take a wet piece of rawhide and rap it around a pole and set it in the sun. What happens it dries out and shrinks ,and strangulates, becomes unflexable , and can break off, or attach itself into you organs. If it shrinks and becomes unflexable it is constraining the area of where it was installed. I have 2- pieces of mesh in me, a bard medium prefix plug and a 3x6 flat mesh , and this is keyholded around my spermatic cord. Both pieces are made of polypropylene, and that stuff is line fishing line. I have had 2- cat scans, 1- ultra sound, 1- berium enema,2 emergancy romm visits and 1- sergeon office visit and no doctor can tell me anything. I do not have health insurance, it take two years after becoming disabled to get medicade.
I am not giving up and I do feal what others on this form are talking about and going thru. I did get disability but it was for also needing another spinal fusion but also having this mesh is causing me my lower abdomen pain and swelling. It even looks abmormal. For anyone trying for disability write you congressmen or congresswomen. it may help. I pray for you all , even if I did not have back problems , I would still be disabled because of this mesh. and if congress don't get there '''' together ssd will run out of money in 2016. God Bless you all.

m- thank you for responding to my post. In march I had a ct scan, it showed that I had inflammed bowels on the right side I had an endoscopy, mid-march and discovered an ulcer. This past Thursday I had a colonoscopy, fortunately my bowels are not perforated, just a dialated colon. How do i get my surgeon to listen to me? I last saw him 4 weeks ago and he told me the reason for my pain was that I worked out too much. He also had no explanation for why i hadd5 weeks worth of diarrhea, except saying that perhaps i was lactose intolerant or had celiac disease. I have a followup with my surgeon on the 17th....how do i get through to him? Any suggestions

Hello Patty! Yes, criminal would be a better word, for sure! But you can't sue the FDA and the FDA protects the medical manufacturers and apparently being a human guinea pig without your approval is NOT criminal. Its a crazy, crazy world we live in. I wake up everyday with the hope that today will be a good day. That I won't have a sudden over whelming pain that drops me to the floor or the dull throbbing deep ache that after about 4 hours I have to go and curl up in bed. So far, today is not too bad I'm in pain but am out and about, smile on my face, song in my heart OOrah, OOrah....I hope that you all have a GOOD day too. The FDA can kiss my butt! ;>)

Who said you cannot sue the fda? They are a government agency, there are people in that agency who make the rules. Government and people can be sued for decisions that harm and kill people.I dont have the resources to do it, but my Niece is an attorney and said anyone can be sued, even government agencies.
