I am a Christian, but I am not only a Christian; I am a practicing hard core bible thumper, and I do TaiChi on a regular basis. I do TaiChi because I am 40 years old with massive arthritis due from a car accident in 1990. The doctors had me on so many pills it wasn’t even funny, so what the Church is saying is; they would rather have me on massive potentially addictive pain pills; than to do a exercise proven to help arthritis suffers? We can literally date back the Olympics from the book of Philippians, and if one does a study on this area one would find out how barbaric those exercising test of men were. TaiChi with the right vitamins is how the Lord uses to heal my body. Yes, I believe 100 % that Jesus can heal my physical body in an instant, and I pray for this, but until He answers my prayer; He is using TaiChi; along with my biblical studies, praying, fasting and so forth.
Christ came to set the captives free; so if this is true which it is; then why does the Church put upon His followers more bondage? He came to set me from bondage and He wants me and you to live, so why in the world would I or anyone stop doing what they enjoy, because the Church says so? The Greek word for exercise is gumnavzw, to mean; “to exercise vigorously, in any way, either the body or the mind.” Now, I got this translation from my King James Version Greek lexicon Thayer's and Smith's Bible Dictionary. |

1 http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2009/05/07... My mother is Catholic and has been doing Tai Chi for years. If they had tried to get her to buy into some Eastern philosophy, she would never have stayed with it for so long. All it does for her is help her stretch and move somewhat more smoothly. She has very bad OsteoArthritis. She's had one knee replaced twice, and the other should have been done 10 years ago, but she keeps putting it off. If she didn't have Tai Chi, she would be much stiffer and in much more pain. Another case of people jumping to conclusions about somthing they know nothing about. The same nonsense is going on about Yoga classes - Christian and Muslim religious leaders are advising their parishoners to not take Yoga because it came from a Hindu and Buddhist tradition. The classes, as with Tai Chi, have no religious content, but because of where it grew from, it must be from the debil. So, what do they have to replace these beneficial exercises? Nothing. Sitting on your fat, lazy bum and reading scripture. |

1 I'm sorry, but I just don't think you shouldn't practice Tai Chi because it makes a Buddhist. The ideas on morality and behavior come from Buddhism, yes, but the Buddhist ideas on behavior and the Christian ideas on behavior are very compatible. It's only the belief in Jesus or Buddha that makes the difference. Also, how can Chi and Shen possibly be demon spirits? That makes no sense. Anyone ever heard of a demon spirit dedicated to influencing people to do the right thing? |
