So, are you going to ban boxing, karate, or any other contact sport? How about you put the effort into reducing the crime rates, expanding the economic base, and controlling the massive waste of taxpayers money. It seems theres alot of more pressing issues then this.

For Jennings to equate MMA with dogfighting is just stupid.

Dogs and roosters don't sign waivers Mr. Jennings. If two Grown men consent to beat the tar out of each other , let 'em. Boxing is dead. Long live MMA.

How about putting some of that ambition on the 10's of thousands of meth houses in the state. First the pit rules law and now this, lets just shut down everything that brings money to the state.

What makes mixed martial arts and different than any other form or sactioned fighting. In boxing you can knock someone out, well i've seen people get knocked out in football too, are you going to ban that. I've seen police choke suspects on COPS and yet you can show that. The sport has rules and there are fewer injuries in mixed martial arts than there is in baseball. It just sounds like more complaining from someone that ran out of things to complain about. In animal fighting, the dogs or chickens don't have a choice but to fight. A person spends sometimes hundreds of thousands of dollars on profesional trainging. If they want to fight and alot of people can get entertainment out of it, then let them.

And why is a law maker wasting time on trying to ban a sport instead of say, fixing health care in the state. Or fixing the debunckle that is called our freeway system. It seems to me that there are far better things to focus on than a few fights.

Dogs and roosters cannot make a choice ( or can they ?) Debate 3-2-1. People can. 3-2-1 Flame away! I knew people 20+ years ago that did this , and the $ they made , they own their own home. And now , they work 9-5 at 1/10 the pay. Wheres the right ?

Jennings for governor. Violence should not be sanctioned by society. Please, no jokes about the fact that he is a sheep rancher. He is thinking clearly on this issue. We must reduce violence by not modeling violence in a way that encourages emulation. True, it is not dog fighting. It is human fighting for money, approval, recognition and some are making a business out of it. I recall we had APD and NMSP fighting each other downtown not so long ago. Bully for Mr. Jennings.

This is without a doubt the first rational thought I have ever heard from Sen. Jennings. Possibly he'll follow it with more?

Eh, I don't care for it personally. But if we let them wear NM State bolos and they hit each other with NM State Pimental guitars made almost entirely from imported materials, I'd watch.

We have one of the top five MMA training facilities in the country. Holly Holm has a boyfriend that trains there. By all means, let's destroy one of the few thriving businesses here in ABQ. What a maroon you are Jennings.

let these people beat the crap out of each other but make them sign a waiver that releases the state from supporting them or their family when they are in an vegitative state when they are beaten so bad they can no longer function. The Romans had it right when the loser died.

I also don't care for the sport, but if two grown men want to beat the crap out of each other in a controlled environment, I don't see why it should be a lawmakers concern.

This MMA bill is only for this law maker to show how he can throw his weight around and NOT to help the people of New mexico gain pride in something that our state is doing so well in. He is simply making sure that he can push for bills that line his pockets next time he votes

What a dumb()ss. The difference is the animals are forced to fight. These cage fighters are human beings and are making their own decisions. Why don't these people get it?

Sometimes I don't like being where I am, but , just a pickle to some, but am very comfortable in my own skin. I am a romancer and believe in love and yet I am a man who is a "Dawg" can stand-up when the boss comes down. I am a health professional and know the in's and out's of injury and wounds and know the method of cutwork to the in'th degree. Only because I was once a "tuff-man" contestant years ago, here in Albuquerque. now 53, can still bang with the best, but not out to be the man, not macho-man. I respect any man who steps up and desires to be the man. I promote and do cut-work with other fighters here in the Albuquerque area. I do not put up with punks who think they can take the world, they are the ones who go down. I respect the man who is and does not seek attention to be who he is as a person. It is purely "Zen" with me and only deal with fighters who have a disaplined mindset. No jive with this "Machine" either you do or your don't. I never come off as arrogant, bull-dogging, nor thinking I can take the world by storm. I believe in self and the art of protecting one's self. MMA or cage-fighting should be studied and evaluated for it is not as what some people believe it to be, it is all mind control, meditation and being true to ones self.

Not a bad idea. Some violence provoces more violence and medical bills that someone has to pay waiver or no waiver.
