You cannot learn Aikido from watching videos/dvd’s. They can help WITH your practice, but as with a lot of things in life, if you truly want to learn the true art of Aikido, it will require you to train and train regularly!

I think that watching aikido videos can help your aikido but it obviously can't substitute training. A lot of things can be understood from videos (especially if there are proper explanations in them) but you have to go to a dojo to apply the principles and techniques you learned or understood a bit better.
