Bernheim Forest's deer crippled and alone in an inadequate enclosure.

On February 18, 2011, almost a year ago, Briana the remaining deer at Bernheim Forest was fraudulently conveyed. The moving of Briana was fraudulent by reason of the fact that there was a written agreement concerning her care and welfare and it was obvious that it did not include moving her after nine months. Mark K. Wourms, Bernheim Forest's executive director, had already seen to it that Fuzzy died, had moved the two vultures, had prematurely killed the goat, and then he fraudulently conveyed Briana. Since he and the Bernheim Trustees did not want Briana the moving of Briana was not in and of itself the worst thing IF they had moved her to a place that knew about the proper care of an adult deer. But where they moved her may be experts in other creatures but not in an adult deer. Through a series of mistakes and incompetence they have crippled Briana. They did not even have a permit to have her until I finally made a complaint to KY Fish & Wildlife. KY Fish & Wildlife did nothing about the issues in my complaint for cared less. But they did make the place get a permit, for that would serve to put money in the pocket of the Department. The utter incompetence and dishonesty are appalling.
If anyone cares I'd appreciate hearing. Briana is now crippled, is in the owner's inadequately tiny backyard, and has no companion. She is suffering and miserable. I have already posted at Bullitt and Nelson Counties Forum and am exhausted and upset. Kentucky is a backwards horrible place and I am begging anyone in Louisville -which is perhaps the only spot of enlightenment in this incredibly backwards location- to please contact me about what we can do. Briana should never have been moved to where she is for she has suffered and is suffering. She should never have been crippled. I would think that Roger Fauver would care about the fact that she has been wrongfully crippled. There should be someone who would care. A lot of wrongs have been done and no one has cared. What kind of dishonest, deceitful, lying, miserable backwards area is this???????

I am an animal lover but some animals are difficult to care for. A wild deer would be in that category. Why couldn't they just released it into the woods ???

They possibly could have released Briana, but Bernheim Forest had viewed she was too tame. She had been in captivity too long. She was no longer a "wild deer". The issue now is for a group to form and to discuss the situation. She has been wrongfully crippled. A deer is not difficult to care for if you know what you are doing. There are many places that have captive deer who do well and are healthy. Where Briana was moved does NOT know what they are doing, for she should never have become crippled. They know possibly about the care of fawns and raptors. But they have not had a permanent adult deer in their care and didn't know about transitioning the feed or about proper feed. Further they didn't even have the ncessary permit until this past week. Do you know how a group of concerned individuals could be formed?

I don't have problem with you boycotting the forest at all. What I do care about is why whoever is standing out in front of the park is writing down license plates as people leave the park. This bothers me and is why If it happens again I will have the police pay you a visit in front of bernheim. Making a statement is one thing but harassing people and writing down plate numbers is another. I have been a member of bernheim for years and remember the one eyed deer there as well. I never noticed any problems with its enclosure nor in the health of the deer. The deer had a bigger yard than I do and vinyl fence so as not be be hurt. The deer always had food and plenty of cover to hide when it was tired of visitors. If the deer was mistreated somewhere else then go boycott them but bernheim didn't hurt the deer so why are you there? You're there because you get more attention from the many visitors of the park. The deer has had a better life than a one eyed deer would have had in the wild trying to survive. I don't see any fault in the park. Apparently you know more than the park employees and executives along with KY fish and wildlife so maybe you should be working a job that makes a difference instead of standing on the side of the road.

Probably thin sliced, breaded, fried and served as a dish I refer to as 'big buk'n eggs'.Could have also been slow boiled all day in butter-beans and served in a dish I refer to as 'big buk'n beans. However,,,it's also possible that they simply filleted several small "chunks" and wrapped a double slice of bacon around each of them, slow baked them in worcestershire-sauce,and served them as a dish I refer to as "big buk'n bacon wraps.Thinkin' about it though,,,a lot of people like to shred it up and add barbecue.A dish that would probably be known as "big buck'n barbecue".

This misguided fool proves that no good deed goes unpunished. I'm sorry that Bernheim has to tolerate someone so out of touch with natural order as to place a deer on a vaulted pedestal above all of the other problems of the world that their energy could be focused on.

Not sure what to make of it all. I like to the visit the park and hike, i actually never really see any wildlife there at all. I do however see a lot of signs out front about death and meth felons....I actually thought something really bad had happened there. Then to find out that it's all about a deer! I like wildlife also and i think deer are very beautiful animals but c'mon, does anyone really need to go through all that trouble. I would like to add that i am out of state and drive quite a ways to come to the park and i'd really like to visit just once without having to see all the nonsense. Thanks for your time. Blessings my friends.

You are one sick person. There is nothing illegal about writing down someone's plate number. Go check with law enforcement. You are an ignorant idiot.

You are no psychologist. You probably don't even have a college degree. You really need help, in more ways than you can ever know. You are an uneducated idiot.

Have you ever heard of something called the first Amendment and the Constitution?
