There are jobs out there, maybe not the one you want or are qualified for, but it is a job and a job making minimum wage pays more than unemployment. With fulltime work comes benefits.

Get up off the couch and look for a job.

People that sit around and depend on unemployment until all the extensions runout are just plain lazy!

Become a better American, get up and do something instead of waiting for it to be handed to you.

Guess it depends on how bad you want to work.... Course if you can sit home and draw enough, why bother.
I'll tell you what,a few years back when I was outta work
I went to a temp service and got hired in a week
Its not the time to be worried about being embarrassed its about putting food on the table and keeping a roof over your head.
The hell with those that ridicule you..at least your trying

I know plenty of people that have went to temps. Its all about what one wants. If you don't want anything you sit and get free money for awhile, if you want something, you work, work, work!

Just because they are taking applications doesn't necessarily mean they are hiring. Have tried many places.

Do you honestlty think working at Thornton's or Mcdonald's is going to pay your mortgage and health insurance, along with all your other expenses? Our nationwide unemployment rate has now hit 10% with 14m unemployed. That's the highest in 23 years.I'm pretty sure most people who got laid off would rather be working than collecting unemployment.

He's not.A lot of places take applications in case a position opens up.I have a friend who got laidoff from a wellpaid position and it's very frustrating for her.Working at Mcdonalds wouldn't come close to paying a 900.00 mortgage along with groceries, insurance and everything else. Some people on here are not realistic in their thinking. And Mcdonalds and Thorntons wont hire you if they think you're overqualified.

I work in a factory making good wages. When i was younger it was seasonal so i drew unemployment for a bit. We have since restructured this yr and it looks like for about 3 months in the spring there will be layoffs and i will be one of the ones out for a while. I will gladly set back draw the money that I have paid into this system, do some work around mt house, Cut a few yards for some extra cash and enjoy. After 20 years in this place i feel as if i am entitled

No I'm not joking... that's the way it is where I'm living right now. I wouldn't kid about something so serious. I'm not lazy and I just thank God that my husband does have a job, but where he works doesn't offer any kind of insurance.

you do realize unemployment isnt a "hand out"!!!!
you pay for unemployment while you work, it is actually your money in the case you need it.. that is why it is called "insurance"!!!!!

That's what I'm talking about! I worked in the mortgage area for quite some time and now have to basically find a different career and probably will not make the wages that I once did. God is taking care of me right now though.:)

You do know that you are supposed to be looking for work while you draw unemployment.

I don't think they know this. Maybe these people are unemployed for a perfectly good reason, THEY HAVE NO COMMON SENSE!

Does unemployment pay enough to cover those bills? I am not trying to be annoying as I don't know the answer.
I do know people on unemployment who won't give up their cable television, cell phone and other items that I consider luxaries.
There was a time in my life that I had to really cut back on things... including setting my thermostat back to 65 in the winter so that I could afford my utilities. I used coupons at the grocery or bought the store brands. No soft drinks, etc.... So while I have never collected unemployment, I have had to live frugily in the past. I don't think many people understand that today....

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Scorpio

Something that you've always taken for granted or believed implicitly could have a big question mark hanging over it during the next few weeks. The more entrenched your views are about this, the more difficult it will be to accept that perhaps it's time for a change of opinion or, at the very least, a revaluation of what you think. Mercury turns retro in your house of communications, so do your best to be open-minded now.
