The economy will turn around much quicker than predicted. It always does. The experts are saying 2010. With the threat of inflation gone with the collapse of the oil and commodities markets the Fed will have no problem lower interest rates that in turn will start to revive the economy at the end of the first quarter of 2009. By July Ford and most other auto manufacturers will be posting low double digit sales gains year over year.

Poor Quality

All you have to do to confirm is look.

I travel a lot, rent cars all over this country, the only ones that fall apart on me ar Fords and Dodges, GM product don't fall apart but the rattle and thunk bad. Had a Ford a while back, it was in your fair state, had 300 miles on it, had to turnaround in 3 blocks and return it, right front brake locking up, very dangerous. The only one I will ask for is Toyota, lot of times they don't have them, other people asking for them also. Go ask, drice, see what I mean.

As a union man i have to say F**k u about the lazy workers. Those so called lazy workers are what has made cars for people for a hundred years. They do the blood sweat and tears., I dont see no management weenies doing what they do. If u want to blame anyone about Ford blame idiotic management. Terrible design. high prices, and stupid decisions like discontinuing the Tarus when it was the #1 selling car in America. I would like to see what Ford would be without the union employees who get paid for doing a job.Without the unions this country would have never grown

There is a difference in hard working and lazy. Now tell me how many union men/women/officials walk around in your shop and do NOTHING. Now to me NOTHING = lazy. I am/have been a UAW member (retired now) 45 years. I know what I am talking about. The union add 2 layers of personal to any opperation they are involved in.
Now tell me 1 thing a union has to offer that we need.

I think its the nightmares of AMerican vehicles in the 80's that are costing them right now!

Is it true the union wouldnt give concessions for a pay freeze and refused to pay more of thier health ins.? if so there is some of the problem.

It costs 2k more to build a Chevy SUV then it does a comparable Toyota,,thats a problem.

Jealousy im sure is a problem in some people.

Corporate golden parachutes, high saleries to people running a failing company. thats a problem.
bottom line is Many small business, factories ect benefit from GM,Ford and Chrysler as well as the community as a whole. So when 1,2 or all 3 disapear, thier respective communities suffer and many American jobs are gone, not just union jobs

Yes and no.
Mulally,President/ceo of Ford made just shy of 22 million dollars in 2007.
Criminal.
For years unskilled laborers were making 30 dollars an hour with all the fixins that equaled 63 dollars per hour.
Also criminal.

Protection against supervisors that think they can come in with their little paper degress and tell u what job u will do today, what shift you will work, when u will go to lunchj, whne u can have time off. Do u really think that companies will out of the goodness of their heart make it a good world for those without union protection? Unions have gottne people good wages, insurance, vacations, holidays and etc;. These companies are not our friends and i am thankful i dont work in an nonunion shop so the suits can run roughshod over me on any issue that they wish. And tell me do u think there are no lazy workers in nonunion shops? Trust me unions dont have a corner on that market.

Maybe it is criminal to make 60 an hr with benefits but let me ask u this. Did the unions force companys to give workers those wages? No. Unions asked and these were negotatied. No one put a gun to anyones head for it. And not all make that. I make 15 an hr with benefits i probally make 30. So not allunions are Ford and GM

Unions, historically, get what they can when they can, regardless of the fall out.
This only fattens the pockets of the union officials.

I bought a dodge 3500 Ram with cummins engine. Guess what, Made in Mexico, not a better truck any where.

Got a Toyota Camry, Guess what, made in Kentucky, not a better made car anywhere.

Both made in non-union plants.
Guess what, I wanted it that way.
