You people who seem to worry about Don Gingerich having enough money to help candidates get elected.
You can quit worrying. I know for a fact he owns 2 Rolls Royces and 2 Mercedes plus drives a white Lincoln as his daily car.

Needless to say, the often faceless world of the internet is not the ideal place for kids to learn respectible ways to communicate.
Parents today need to limit the amount of computer exposure time from toddler age through teenage years.
Could not agree more.

Tif you missed a good communication. We started a Springboro Levy Trading Card gig. Like baseball cards. All we had was pics from a BOE meeting for you. For CCM, we had to use Hale Berry as catwoman driving a School Bus. For us 3 we just figured Larry, Moe and Curly were better choices and better looking. The other 7 that were there just the 7 dwarfs.

Isn't it amazing, the day after the election and now all the financial information is posted to the Springboro School's web site? And Mr. Budd has an article about how they will be millions (or billions?) in debt if a levy doesn't pass. New Board Members - Be Alert - Baker, Detwiler and Budd are up to their old tricks.

it would have been a suprise if they would have been forthcoming B4 the elections - IMO if the both of the current BOE would have made it into office we would not have heard about it until closer to the next levy for IMPACT power.

I have a nice one, thanks for asking. Boy, you are one "kid" with a lot of pent up anger. And over what? Because one adult, who you disdain, got elected to the school board? That doesn't make a lot of sense to me, you being a kid and all. Much more things for you to worry and get mad about, like getting a zit, having to take another test in some lame class, not being having the girl like you. Ease up!
Hey, I am a girl. Unlike your own children, I like to focus my attention and energy on more important matters. Maybe they'll do better if they were more like me.

That's fine.
Let 'em squirm until January.
Then, I suspect they'll be some serious tree shakin' by the new board to begin digging out exactly what kind of tax money's being wasted INSIDE the brick & morter.

Well who is up for some topics on the driection the new BOE should take.

Right now I feel they should write into to their by laws that no property of the school district worth over 5k should be sold or bought without the consent of the voters. Likewise no contract should be entered into unless posted in advance of BOE approval and a public hearing held on such contract.

I have seen in other districts where school buildings had been sold and then needed in the future for growth. The only option available was new construction. We need to guard our resources now and use them wisely. The latest brick and mortar does not a good school make.

Any NFP group now cannot sell anything worth over (I believe)$100 without the permission of the BOE. Why should not the voters ro the employers have within reason that same right.

Since we are the employers I would like to see what contracts are being negotiated with the SEA, classified employees or any other company or body that does business with the school. We need to make it mandatory that all contracts entered into be posted on the internet for all to see. Those that may not have the internet can still go to the library to download a copy. This is public knowledge and should be made so without hassle.

What are your thoughts?

I think it would be a good time for the BOE to look into Expansion Modules to handle the ebb and flow of enrollment curve.

Hi Bernie
There for a while I thought you and Pillar were 3/4 the way to the indiana border LOL - As we discussed this at our meeting I again agree with your idea here. Of Course there would have be some refinement but you got a great Idea and the Expansion Mods are well a good Idea Especially with the MV building now taking up space at the school land.

I agree with your thoughts on open transparency with the voters. I don't think it is reasonable though to have everything go to a vote. Some decisions have to be made more promptly than that. Also,$5,000 is a drop in the bucket and should not be put before the voters. That is why we elected these BOE members so they make proper decisions on behalf of the district, same as we elect our congressman and senators. Time will tell it they do a good job or not.

Well the 5k was meant at some type of starting point. I guess you could say were starting to re examine the allowance we are giving to this family memeber of ours. There needs to be a restoration of earned trust.
I can see in some land purchases the need to keep it mum do to unforseen speculation, but it is the BOE responsibility to make the public aware that they are going to take these steps and why. We need to get our hands back on the purse strings until there are better checks and balances.
I strongly feel it is not the business of the BOE to randomly enter into contracts without the electorate on board. In one of Bakers columns he aludes to the idea that we may be a source of learning for other districts to make this same (Educare, Careflight, Miracle Field)approach. WRONG! Dr. Kohls had mentioned that there may be a way of funding the schools differently getting business on board. Yes, there is that possibility, but not without the publics hand on the brake, not riding the Caboose! Time to get the Public back into Public Education.

Doesn't that editoral show as a Dr B speech ?? The numbers were out 6 mill in extra - Two of the current BOE on the chopping block Hiding of the "bad" news until it was apparent that only one Current BOE was going to make it. This editoral was all blame it on the voters -

here is the best quote (IMO) in the DDN opinion "Board members must make prudent decisions and know how to manage money well. In the end, they should always do what’s right for the kids, even if that requires taking heat." Right for the kids to walk two miles - The BOE and Admin get their Bennys a super that go's after voters rights to express opinions. the articles author made it out that the BOE was forced to close JW when the figures did not support the Mega schools being built - Yes the DDN is a beam of light of information (LOL) IMO the problem is the BOE is holding the beam of light on the spectic tank when the plug is in the line.
