Here is the recipe that Pat Ferrraris is looking for for an apple cake. I am 72 years old and have used this recipe for over 50 years now and it is always requested at family gatherings.
JEWISH APPLE CAKE
3 cups flour
2 cups sugar
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 cup orange juice
1 cup oil
2 teaspoons vanilla
4 eggs
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 sliced apples (slice thin)
5 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon

Beat eggs oil and orange juice together. Sift flour.
, measure, add sugar, baking powder and salt. Add vanilla to mixture and mix together wll. Grease tube pan and dust with flour. Mix together 5 tablespoons sugar and 3 teaspoons cinnamon in a seperate bowl. Pour half of batter into cake pan and 1 and 1/2 apples -- sprinkle on half of the sugar and cinnamon mixture. Pour rest of batter into cake pan. On top of this add remaining 1 and 1/2 apples and sprinkle remining sugar and cinnamon mixture on top.

Bake in 350 degree oven for 1 and 1/2 hours or until done.

I have never used anything but Gold Medal flour for this recipe and have always had good results.
