Like so many others, I grew up eating at Gay & Larry's. I was there the last day to eat their wonderful food for the last time. I spoke with Trudy, and she had me sign a list for a cookbook she would be publishing in the future! Does anyone know how to reach here?I moved to Colorado since signing up?

Krusteaz Complete Buttermilk Pancake mix 2 cups water 12-14 1/2" by 2 1/4" strips velveeta cheese 1/2 cup cornstarch Drain chiles, lay on paper towel, pat dry. Mix pancake mix with water--it will be thick. Place cheese inside chile, dredge in cornstarch and dip in batter covering whole chile. Deep fry about two minutes at 375.

Thank God they shut that hell hole down. Cockroaches in the kitchen, the sewer seeping in the back dining room. Plus the VD that was transfered from the illegals in back and the hostess on a nightly basis.
Trudy didn't want to "retire" or "close down", she was too cheap to remodel the place when the County came in and told her to pay up or get out.
The last 5 years that place was run into the ground by Janet kissing Trudy's ass, and Trudy's dumb ass grandson Travis.
That place should of burnt down due to all the fire code infractions or sank into the ground due to the fact the only thing separating YOU and the shit water underneath in the back dining room (remember the long table in back?) was a SHEET OF PLYWOOD over the old sewer septic tank.

My family and I enjoyed Gay & Larry's for more years than I can count. In the 1950's my parents stopped there for dinner on their way to San Bernardino to give birth to me!!We always chose this restaurant as a "special" place. Since I come from a family of 4 kids, we spent many graduations, birthdays, weddings...you name it we found a reason. The 4 generation tradition continued as myself, my brothers and sister all raised families and still ate there until they closed down. I now live in Florida and as beautiful as it is here, I would take a flight in a minute if I could have a #1A on a hot plate...not to mention chips & cheese and extra salsa!!! By the way, the receipe listed for the chile rellenos is excellent and very close to the original. I would love to see a recipe book and would like to give a big thank you to Trudy for many years of happy memories.

I am the "sister" in Diane's comment. Each time we got our braces tightened, the only thing we could eat was soup so the albondigas was the greatest!! We miss you guys and I want to personnaly thank you for the great memories you gave our family.

I ate at gay and larrys since the early 40s. The chili rellenos were incredable and thanks to you will try and recreate them. Would love to find out about the tacos and the homemade hot sauce. My e-mail is gai1959@aol.com

I am looking for Gay n Larry's salsa receipe. My parents would take me there since I was a baby in the 70's. I started the traditon with my children. I was sad to see our favorite weekly restaurant go.
