I'm sure Victor Koenig's is still open. I'll have the Roast Beef on Rye please. Tearing down the Child's Warehouse was the most criminal act that little town did in the face of progress. I passed through my town not long ago and was happy to see that although changed it still had that great atmosphere.

Don't you mean "Educate the Indian people"? They come over here, refuse to speak English and take over. If India and the Indian food is so wonderful stay there! I am tired of smelling stinky curry.

My boyfriend and I eat out almost every weekend, and this weekend we stumbled upon Mumbai Express. After eating there on Friday night, we decided to return on Sunday because of the delicious food and friendly atmosphere. I have never been to a vegetarian restaurant before, and I am new to Indian food in general. My boyfriend is from South India and after growing up on Indian food, he gave his seal of approval.

I feel saddened to see the posting here comparing one race to another. I am a native born American as are my ancestors, who have seen many countries melt into one here in the United States. If it were not for our diversity, we would not be the wonderful, caring nation we are today. Let's try to understand and accept our diversities.

Go Mumbai Express!

You must be sadly mistaken because Mumbai Express is a vegetarian restaurant. They don't have any MEAT on the menu.

Totally agree. Clean, decent, and the neighborhood in Nassau County is still nice.

Neeka... If you're speaking to me, let me say that I did not compare my country/race to any other. You said something that is so important to what is NOT happening today with the immigrants coming into this great United States.
You used the word "MELT." Well, guess what? The majority of immigrants today are not melting - aka, assimilating - because for some reason, they feel that WE OWE THEM. Owe them what? WE, and our taxes, do NOT OWE THEM ONE thing! They should feel very lucky that they get into this country.
I didn't break my back and sacrifice so much for them to come in and feel that THEY are going to CHANGE US! I'm not just talking about one nationality, I'm talking about all of them.
I think you need to read what he wrote again -(below) as this man's words speak volumes for many (not all) of the other immigrants that are coming in to the US presently.

~continued from posting above~

First of all... he states,.."problems WE cause around the world." Uhh... excuse me. The United States GIVES MORE in money, food, medicine, etc. than any other country.

Who is HE to tell US the 'right' way??? If this guy is so freakin' happy about being Indian (or any other nationality), then stay in your home country, open up the restaurant of your dreams for YOUR people, and take care of your OWN family. Don't give us any more of your family to take care of, unless you plan on ASSIMILATING to OUR culture. WE don't want you or any other country showing us the 'right' way to live with your up-nosed attitude.

You can assilimate and still have diversity. That is what made this nation great.

Like you said Neeka, this country is a wonderful and caring nation and, I would like to add, giving. That's part of our problem.

Do you know how many countries we loaned money to during WWII? Or WWI for that matter? How many of those countries do you think paid us back? I can tell you that the United Kingdom is NOW finishing up their WWII loan with us, and to my knowledge,(and I might be wrong) Finland is the only country that has totally paid us back.

My opinion still is... my Great-Grandparents came here from 3 different countries, all different in their thinking, dress, and customs. The only thing that immigrants did then to keep part of the 'old' country around them (1850's-1950's) was to live in the same neighborhood and speak their native language when at home. To have your family around you was comforting. This is totally understandable, since a person needed a sponsor when they immigrated to NYC, and usually, the sponsor was a family member from the old country and that's is whom they lived with, because the majority of them came over here with literally,$5.00 in their pocket.

Neeka, tell me if you change your mind IF the day comes (God forbid) that you go into your local grocery store and see the labels on meat and produce in Urdu or Spanish. Hopefully, you will remember my posting. I want you to never forget how men and women have sacrificed their lives for YOUR freedom, diversity, and the way of life we have in this wonderful country.

This guy who wants to open up a restaurant here will NEVER raise his hand (or his childrens hands)to go into the US Armed Forces to keep the freedom of this country.

I don't care what nationality he is, he's just a taker. And a loser. And the majority of people in the United States feel the same way I do, whatever their nationality.

(Any of my typing in caps was done not to shout, but to emphasize only.)
