FYI I believe this shouldn't be a single person's job to begin with. First of all, it requires much more work than these people get paid for, no matter where they are in the county. Secondly, you would have greater checks and balances if you could have a small team. Less chance for an individual to be either falsely accused, or in a position to use funds in a not so forthright manner....whatever. This system is antiquated and comes from a time when the population wasn't so great. Time to throw it out and get something more effective.

Sounds like she is a little shady. Doesn't take a a genious to figure out she is stealing tax payers money. Wouldn't want to be in her shoes when everyone comes sueing her for their money, after she gets out of state prison!!!

Might have something to do with the fact that the new manager (Greg Maust) was scared someone would sue the township because the township went around state rules and decided that service would be better if they paid her fairly. Greg came on board and took that pay away AND started charging her rent on the township building she did business in.
Not many (qualified) people would do the work for what pay she now will receive...
In this case, I would say that Mr. Maust upset the apple cart and I do not feel bad the load landed in his lap.

She works diligently and professionally as I have been a tax paying resident for over 15 years. Sounds more like internal politics.....

What does this have to do with the need for a county school system? There are many more HUGE concerns and issues with converting to a county system that are bigger than who collects the taxes.

The York Area Tax Bureau should be the collecting agent for all real estate taxes in York County.

it's a shame when you have a mangager making $115,000 per year...cant make any decisions other than contacting the twp. solicitor...attorney bills are outrageous...appoint a twp. public works supervisor who cant even spell...have public works employees test positive twice for drugs and still works there...had another public works employee test positive for alchohol on the job 3 times...finally got fired the third time....the whole organization is screwed up

the reason we have tax collectors is because our legislators lack the balls to abolish them. Each tax collector has their own political fiefdom and our legislators will acknowledge in private that the position should be abolished but because of the political ramifications they wont move on it. There is no reason the county could not collect the tax.

Township Manager makes 115K a year...really what does he know about running a township...it's a shame..maybe people should start looking at who is really running the township. Has a previous post states, the manager doesn't make a decision without asking the township solicitor, employees on the payroll that really don't have a clue as to what their job is and some employees who have the rules bent for them....leadership starts at the top

It's the township as a whole that is out of whack. A complete lack of management skill. You have the second highest paid manager in the county and the third highest paid police chief. They both get to drive towship vehicles on work and personal time at the taxpayers expense. The polie chief has not had lights or sirens in his township vehicle for years. He is not allowed by law to respond to a crime differently then any other citizen without them. Why are the taxpayers paying for him to drive his family around when he can't respond to a crime being committed? The township commissioners keep given these two guys 6 and 7 percent raises every year while lowering the minumum police staffing per shift. They put fewer police on the street and have passed that money onto the manager and chief. Is it any wonder Spring Garden has had murders and stabbings increase recently? Maybe if someone with some government experience would have been hired as township manager, instead of someone from a firm the township wanted to do business with, the tax collection would have been better supervised. If you are the second highest paid manger (and that's before the township pays ten percent into your pension every year) you should be protecting the taxpayer, not making sure they have less police coverage. It is hard to belive that anything will change when one of the township commissioners, that was appointed by the rest of the board, lives in his parent's basement and owns no property in the township. Is this the leadership the taxpayers expect? Someone should ask them.

The manager and police chief are top notch in Spring Garden Twp. I have nothing but the utmost respect for the chief and the police force. They are excellent.
