In the you-can't-make-up-this-stuff department, here's what the Republican Party of Texas wrote into its 2012 platform as part of the section on education: "We oppose the teaching of Higher Order Thinking Skills , critical thinking skills and similar programs ... "

state sactioned wilful ignorance, nice. they realised that teaching critical thinking skills makes people question their beliefs...so they want to ban critical thinking. nice cult, nice...

Hard to blame them really. I mean, their schools did produce George Dubya..........

I can't agree. Dubya was raised in a home by a man who said he didn't think atheists were good Americans. |
colbert segment worth watching. as are many of his segments. even some non-political ones, such as the one with cookie monster. |

Judged: 2 1 1 Hell begins with a single critical thought. Did any of you unsaved trash (atheists, fake Christians and Mormons) KNOW that Satan is the adversary, the FIRST critical thinker, who refused to bow down before Yahweh’s kid, Jesus, due to the fact that Joseph’s stepkid was putzin’ around the clouds in a loincloth? Satan rebelled because he took one look at the 33-year-old virgin carpenter in a crown of thorns...and he cringed at the sissy boy. Satan had a critical thought regarding his future as one of Jesus’ love slaves. Awful story, ain’t it? The red guy got thrown into Hell to torture the souls that God gives him. He has just enough power to seduce the weak but not enough to squash the Earth under his thumb. Instead of promoting critical thinking which leads to rebellion against authority, the Texas GOP is proposing a glorious opportunity for ALL students, even Mormons: Old Testament survival camp! Each child will be given a satchel of dried locusts to serve as a Bible trail mix. Instead of critical thinking, they shall learn post-apocalyptic techniques on how to hunt, stalk, and kill their own food or starve to death. No meals are served in the first two weeks. Children will learn to barter and share the love of Jesus at gunpoint should they be left behind as part of the unsaved remnant after the Great Tribulation. The fun includes apocalyptic wilderness survival training, Bible reading, Scripture memory contests, marksmanship competitions, Old Testament wild deer and boar sacrifices, gun care and cleaning, manly fellowship, Bible skits, and evening super surprise game competitions where children use tranquilizer guns to hunt unsaved homeless people who are dropped into the mountains by helicopter. Christian parents should be THANKFUL that the Texas GOP looks after the best interest of their children in a post-apocalyptic world ruled by Antichrist Nicolai Carpathia from Tim Lahaye’s NON-FICTION, Left Behind series. GLORY! |
No, Dumbya probably never set foot in a public school until after he was elected to public office. The Bush family is extremely wealthy, and like all wealthy families, educated their children in very exclusive private schools, from pre-school to graduate school. The Bush kids went to expensive private schools like Philips Andover, a boarding school that costs about as much as Harvard. There was never any danger of the Bush kids rubbing elbows with any offspring of the middle class, let alone actual poor kids. No doubt, the wealthy like the Bush family don't want critical thinking skills taught because they don't want people to figure out how badly they are being screwed over by the wealthy. The religious don't want critical thinking taught because that's 'game over' for religion. |

thank you for that excellent comment. did you see the colbert thing about the Texas GOP? He also has some comments on the latest banking thing - Barclay and the others - and apparently there is some fessin up by Barclay and tellin' on others that might lead to more info on the dirty deeds banks have been continuing to do, despite the weak Dodd-Frank bill. Watch the news re Elizabeth Warren, she is the only one in politics smart enough to both understand it and be able to explain it in ordinary language. That's why Republicans and crooked bankers hate her so much. |

Judged: 1 1 1 This is in the wrong thread, it needs to go in the "Dumbest things posted by..." thread Great job though, a very heartfelt post, I can see the brainwashing is strong in this one. It seems the GOP / Discovery Institute Creationists are giving free frontal lobotomies to their voters. |

Judged: 1 1 1 you are kidding, right? have you ever heard of Stephen Colbert? have you ever heard of the word or concept of irony. do you know what POE is? I do not think this is iffy. I think it is a brilliant farce. |
