Montebello Receives $125,000 DOJ Grant to Hire One Additional Police Officer

Los Angeles received the largest grant in the nation -- $6.4 million -- to hire 25 veterans as police officers. Two other Los Angeles County cities -- Montebello and South El Monte -- received grants of $125,000 apiece to hire one officer; and Hemet in Riverside County got $630,000 to hire three officers

This may be the latest, and not the last, federal grant in this election cycle.

The Chairperson of the Save the Montebello Hills Task Force has spoken extensively at city council meetings about such grants, and has brought several to the attention of the city administration that they may not have been aware of.

With so many cities in dire financial circumstances, more and more varied grants will possibly be coming.

How many years does the grant cover?
Save the Montebelo Hills group- easy to see who the white hats are on many issues- not jsut the hills.

I didn't see any indication in the story that this was more than a one time grant.
