Lebanon's problem is that while they don't want independent militias, they can't resist another Israeli invasion without the Hezb.

Your criticism of the Lebanese army is misplaced. Certainly their "neutrality" looks cowardly if you know nothing of Lebanon's history or servere ethnic and religious fault lines. But you should. Had the army attempted to intervene it would indeed have fractured along sectarians lines. We would be looking at an all-out, multi-party civil war right now. That may sound good for all of us arm-chair enemies of Hezbollah. But for the people of Lebanon, not so much.

Even thou I do not accept the measures Israel went thru in last years war, Hizbella had NO right to jeperdize the people of Lebanon by kidnapping israeli solders unto Lebanese soil without the consent of the Lebanese Gov.

What other country do you see having an army that the its own people and gov can not control? What other stable country do you see militias being fed by other nations that is not the army of the state?

Syria and Iran has great influence over Hizbella, making Hizbella act in times in not the best intrest of Lebanon, but the interest of the nations that feed it. Is that good for Lebanon? If the gov has issues, then it s up the to the people of that nation to address the gov in legal and non violent ways.

We should support the Lebanese army by giving it up to date technology and proper training. The civil war had seperated the army, making it weak. They are the ones that need our support.

Hezbollah's time is past, they were once needed to get the Israelis out of Southern Lebanon, they did their job well. Because of this they fancy themselves the natural government of Lebanon and that is not the case, there is a duly elected government that has been trying to do their job but has been unsuccessful because of this group of bullies called Hezbolah, it has become a terrorist organization. They need to stand down and let the elected government and the army do their jobs.

As far as the army standing idlely by while Hezbollah reaked havoc once again on Lebanon because they were afraid of a sectarian split, that's unconcionable; these men have taken an oath to protect Lebanon, not just their various sects. They need to get over the fact of being Sunni, Shitte, Christian, or whatever they are, they are Lebanese, that means they protect Lebanon no matter who the offender is. When they speak they speak of Lebanon with such love, then by God protect her from one and all who attack either from the outside or the inside, show that that pride you have is true love for Lebanon and not love for only the portion of Lebanon that is your sect.

It is a mere fantasy that there can be A LEBANON without its Shi'ite constituency. It is also unrealistic to expect AN ARMY to shoot its own citizens, albeit a whole Sect in Lebanon called Shi'ites. Further, while fighting oppressive intolerant Wahabi Sunni protectorate over Lebanon, Shi'ites are fighting for THEIR as well as OTHERS' right of religion : Otherwise, all will succumb to petro-dollar rich, so-called "Western" Imams of Saudi Arabia and Turkey. The Lebanese Army is trying SO HARD to keep the unity in the country. That there is MORE in Lebanon than strictly Iran, Syria, Saudi, Israeli, Sunni, Shi'a... circles of pressures. That Lebanon embodies ALL of these, and has to FIND its common denominator for survival... If Hezbollah is a terrorist organization in Lebanon, then what kind of organization is the United States military in Iraq?

Iraq which used to have 27 million citzens has lost 60,000 dead, 600,000 wounded and 4 million in exile since America came to their rescue to bring them democracy. The Israeli Defense Force kills about 40 Palestinian civilians for every Israeli civilian death. Lebanon was invaded by Israel with many civilian casialties after an operation against the Israeli military.

As long as the USA stays out of Hezbollah's way they are Israel's well earned problem. Let the two scorpions fight with out any American aid to either side. When America intervened in Lebanon in 1983 Hezbollah attacked the U.S Marines in a bombing killing over 200. Ronald Reagan wisely cut and ran from the country.
