I have been taking Chantix for a week now. I started with the wierdest dreams about day 2. I have been having crazy dreams about serial killers and me going after them after I witness them kill. I would say nightmares but they havent really scared me since I love a good horror flick. Maybe ill write them all down and become the next Stephen King.

You should stop taking it bro. Some people it can give delusional reactions and cause psychotic behavior. If I were you I'd look for another stop smoking solution.

This is coming from someone that used chantix and would recommend it... but not in your case.

Hi I have been taking Chantix for two weeks now.

I can now remember all of my dreams. I normally have three a night. Yesterday I was in a zombie apocolypse. Strangly I changed myself into somewhat of an Alice and was sitting in a room with un-dead like zombies and me. Then the counslar talks to me and tells me she will see me when I get out winking.

I now am in another dream. I am flying a Combat ship killing blue demons. Suddenly a demon damages my ship. I land my craft and go look for parts in a warehouse. I enter the warehouse seeing many other people inside, they seemed to be scared, but when they saw me they were happy.I realize I can think of fixing my ship and it's fixed. I run back out to it, it's fixed, but now a remote control ship ( LOL Guess I am new to this). I think it back to the ship it was. Suddenly, a mist appears with sharp razers, it's obliterates everything but me. I run to the warehouse enter and se people getting slaughtered by these blue things.

The warehouse becomes transparent looking around, I see a forest around. All the trees start falling as they are falling they are sawed into tree stumps. They fall all around me. I stand watching as I am watching the warehouse comes back and I enter combat with the demons. It appears I am stronger than normal, as I hit these demons they fly threw the walls, or out the ceiling. I then head for a door a demon lunges at me. I slam the door into it's face crushing it. I run threw another door and do the same thing. I find a cubbie hole and crawl into it as I close the slide down door, a blue demon grabs it. I can say one thing these things look like a person from the blue man group but taller with fanges, claws and smooth slimy skin, with an odd odor I've never smelled before. They have an oddly human face. The one blocking the slidng door speaks to me and says, "No where to run now". I give a quick smirk, and knock the smithereens out of it, feeling my fist crush it's face as I hit it.

As I close the slid down door, my finace wakes me up.

I've had many different dreams,I can describe most of them in grave detail. From how I felt, to what I smelled. To even drawing up the faces of people and things I meet.

I normally get vivid dreams like this a few times a week before chantix, now it's every night.

I have been on Chantix for about 1.5 weeks. I had not been having any side effects until the past 4 days or so. I has very easy to fall asleep but then I am constantly waking up all night confussed on where I am. I am having really vivid dreams and they are waking me up, but then it takes me a few minutes to realize that I was just dreaming...weird.

First talk to your doctor....

The only suggestions are from others experiences ... Take the pill earlier in the afternoon some said it helped or possibly take less of a dose.

I had smoked for over 40 years & have been quit for 4 1/2 years. I quit on 1/2 of the dosage that was recommended. I had the dreams...they ere very vivid & I remembered them in detail! I didn't have bad dreams!!

Good luck on your quit. Someone before me posted a quitting wean that many of us who read here followed. It made good sense to me to step down from Chantix gradually so I did it.

I've had surreal dreams like this every night.
Also, I notice that I start dreaming before I'm completely asleep. I know this does not make much sense. Anyone notice that?

I love some of the dreams I have but last night I had a dream that I was in a Hunger Games situation with my twin sister, and two very sweet friends if mine. We were thrust out into an arena where only one of us could come out alive in the end! The setting for this arena was a bunch of really nice neighborhoods with families in the homes! We all just sat down in a circle on someone's lawn and we chatted and laughed! We had such a great time we decided that we would put everything off until the next day! It sounds nice but I woke up with my heart pounding and I wouldn't take my head out from under the covers. The feeling of the dream was quite sad as we all loved each other so much and were thrust into this situation! We all have kids and all I could think about was my son but also the fact that they were probably as sad as me! Hoping for a more positive dream tonight!

My name is Crystal and I've been a pack-a-day smoker for about 7 years now. When I was younger I used to suffer from reoccuring nightmares and am very curious but also nervous to start Chantix. I feel that getting my health back is worth risking the nightmares. But it is a part of my past I'm terrified to face. Comments?

I'm also a lucid dreamer and took my first dose yesterday afternoon. I had a vivid dreams stressfull but not nightmarish.
I was wondering whether the time one takes the pill makes any difference OR whether a 'positive' affirmation before going to sleep might be helpful?
Thanks,
Paul

Hi Cheryl. I just read your dream about flying. This is very interesting. I have been a lucid dreamer for years now, and can control what is going on in my dreams, ie: make myself fly, look in mirrors and change my appearance, control where I travel, etc. I have a long history of dreams where I lose control of the height of my flying and have these amazing religious/zen experiences where I feel my body burning and float up in to a light. During these dreams I am always unable to breathe. I went and got a sleep study done and found out I had sleep apnea, and that it was actually the oxygen loss that was causing these experiences. Interesting, huh?
Anyway, I am a smoker for 15 years now and I'm starting Chantix today. I'm interested to see how it affects my dreams since they are so crazy already. I'll keep you posted. What an exciting forum, guys! Thanks for sharing with me!!!

I found that one pill a day works for me. I take it at 5 AM when I wake up. I still get the vivid dreams Andorra insomnia but it's not so bad. Taking a morning and evening dose made me crazy!

I wish I could say I was having weird dreams. Mine are downright nightmares. I considered quitting the chantix but found that if I take the pill earlier in the afternoon I'm ok at night. My Doctor told me that he's had several patients tell him about the horrible nightmares they are having so it made me feel a little better to know that I'm not alone. The reality of these dreams were just too much for me to handle! So far I'm nightmare free for a week or so! Smoke free - 60 days
I don't know which one I should celebrate more! LOL!
I have been having nightmares as well...what time did your doc tell you to take it in the afternoon?

Been taking Chantix for a week now. I've been dreaming every night, but couldn't remember any of them until last night:

I was at "home" (not a house I've ever lived in) and I'm talking on the phone with my mom and she's blabbing on and on. Then I decide to go to a movie and drive to the mall (the one next to my childhood home in CA), but I look at the clock in my car and it's after midnight (mall is closed). There are a small group of cars and people in the parking lot and they are staring at me approaching so I do an awesome 180 and I got the tires screeching and smokin. I casually drive home. Then I notice it's 2:30 in the morning and the sun is coming up?! Then an old shipmate of mine shows up and is all "Yo, I got you good f***er! I set all your clocks back." Then I woke up laughing.
