Ralph is a good guy. Old man that should be retired but still trying to work a little. If he did something wrong, I guarantee it was because of his employer. He would give you the shirt off his back, but mr. EPA going to take it all. PURE B.S.

People are stupid. Obama has nothing to do with this and the EPA has laws that tell them who to prosecute and who not to prosecute.

Bottom line, this is karst. Anything that gets dumped on the surface goes underground and pollutes water. The small amount of oil here cannot really be safely drilled without polluting karst.

I'm aware that the rednecks around here have some mentality that they can dump whatever they want on their own property or the property of others. They know it's illegal, they don't care. Simply because they don't know anything about hydrology or pollution. They think it just soaks into the ground and bye bye mother nature will take care of it! Not so.

So if the EPA is saying these guys are doing something illegal, they are. The EPA keeps us safe and keeps our air, soil and water safe so that we get less cancer than we have today. Of course, those who would dump petroleum products or other chemicals on land are putting us all in danger, and look around. Cancer rates are higher in Kentucky than any other state. Many are from smoking, but many are also from pollution. So, get over it people. They get what they deserve.

People dumb all kinds of things in sink holes, mostly meth garbage. Wait for a few years we are going to have all kinds of problems and cancers from the meth contaminates that are being tossed down the holes. I heard they even through a body down one a while ago.

Seriously why do so many people take up for the EPA. If people realized how bad the EPA and their agents have hurt this country then maybe citizens would have a different outlook on this case and the EPA itself. Do not get me wrong however, because I agree there are good agents only doing what is best for their people, but too many are money hungry and want to take out small business owners amongst other people that actually benefit our society. Just take a look at this article from the Washingtpostures and see how bad the EPA can really be and how much power they have been given. http://p.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/aug/31... .
And there are plenty more articles like this, so I would like to tell people here to stop putting all the blame on the individual small business owners, but just look at the EPA.

Uh probably because I'm one of the few who actually knows the EPA, have worked in partnership with them, and know people personally who work for them. So, I know more than anyone why they are incredibly useful and keep us all safe. Go to a third world country and then come back to the USA, you'll see the EPA does wonders. We have incredibly dangerous substances that we work with daily in order to make our lives more enjoyable or convenient. This isn't the wild west, people can't just dispose of things any way they want. You don't see the effects of these sorts of things because thankfully, the EPA keeps most people in check. The few offenders are usually caught and sites become superfund sites where they must use federal tax dollars to clean them so that we nor our children end up with cancers or worse, babies aren't born with an arm growing out of their back or with two heads! You people are just ignorant, that's all.

And yes the EPA can be a really bad entity. They have the power to fine you just about any amount of money. And if you purchase property that happens to be an old dump site, YOU can be fined and be made to clean it up, even if you didn't do it. So boo hoo me a river. I don't care. Because it's for the good of us all and anyone with any sense can see this.

If people are anti EPA they should volunteer to use their property as a illegal dump site. Afterall, there's really nothing wrong with it.

i was just curious, the EPA is always on the small oil guys, and i am all for that if the guys are guilty. my concern, is this. the state of ky, dumps brine solution on the roads every winter, and brine solution is nothing more than salt water. also they dump thousands of pounds of salt on the roads in the winter. this is put on the roads, and runs straight into the storm drains, and then right to the river where the water plant picks it up. so why has the EPA not done somethimg to fix this? if an oil field worker gets 20 or 30 gallons of oil or salt water spilled the EPA acts like the earth is going to come to an end because of that. just curious

Quite simply because salt is the most cost effective way to help keep the roads ice free in winter. There are more expensive chemical products that could be used but our taxes would have to go up and they may be worse for the enviornment. The state could not put salt on the roads. More people would die in ice related traffic accidents than if they treat the roads. How much is a human life worth to you? If it is a loved one of yours I would guess a lot. If you have a better suggestion than salt on the roads please contact the Governor's office.

so test salt for road use and then test produced fluids from oil production and see wich one has cancer causing agents in it and witch one dosent
