Delighted to see that Connecticut is joining the CIVILIZED world. Time for the rest of this country to join them. The death penalty is outdated, useless, and barbaric. So long!

No civilized country has the "death penalty" (read: state-sanctioned murder). Corollary: Having the "death penalty" makes a country uncivilized. If you read the news items on this, it's not about "bleeding heart liberals". Many of those now voting against murdering prisoners WERE IN FAVOUR OF IT, but changed their minds. Why did they change their minds? Because they took their heads out of their asses and admitted that innocent people can be and have been murdered by governments (e.g. Cameron Todd Willingham), and that thousands of other innocent people have been wrongly convicted of other crimes, not just "death penalty" cases. They also admitted another fact: that those who receive "life, no parole" are no longer a danger to society. Anyone who still wants the "death penalty" is a sociopath who wants to see people murdered. Such people are no better than those they want to see killed. .

Don't you really feel that the arguments against the death penalty SHOULD be based on FACTS and not lies and distortions. Example, where are the FACTS that Willingham was innocent? No opinions, please. Just the facts. Example, where are the FACTS that people who get LWOP are no longer a danger to society? Why don't you believe that prison employees and inmates are not part of society? How about the lifers who have escaped and killed people on the outside?

So, Bill Dash Dash Dash Dash Dash, how's that whole Neighborhood Watch thing goin' for ya? Should Mr. George Zimmerman taste some serious voltage for killing a random hoodie? Kinda takes the edge off of sitting in a cell for the next 50 years, wouldn't ya say?? Easy come. easy go...or contemplate your solitary existance until you die an old man in a prison cot. If my name were George, I'd sure pick the quicker picker-upper...

Liberals make me sick... They are destroying this country.. Liberals will let gang members kick their front door in, rape their wife, and ask them if they want a comdom... We will see when these libs become a victim of a horrific crime. We will see if they still oppose the death penalty...

I've worked in a maximum security prison in CT for 20 years... These prisoners live better in prison then most people who live in the free world. If you think LWOP is a deterant, go tour a maximum security prison and see how nice the inmates live..computer courses, school, recreation, A/C, game boys, art classes, and the list goes on.. Not bad for taking a life... The dead victim isn't going to enjoy these things anymore.. Why should the criminal?

George Zimmerman is going to walk a free man when this all done. Stop letting the media put silly ideas in your head.. He's not going to have a grand jury investigation. A prosecutor will handle the case, they will charge him with manslaughter, he will have a trial, and he will be found not guilty of manslaughter. They are just going to charge him with something so the masses don't do the usual and burn down thier own nieghborhoods. Other are just looking for him not to be charged so they can loot stores and steal.

Sadly, this very first post completely disqualifies you from further serious discussion. As with most extremists, you're unable to see people in terms other than partisan or ideological. The Death Penalty does nothing to deter crime or lower crime rates. That's simply an established fact. Deal with it.

That's simply an established fact. Deal with it. Those who rabidly call for the killing of criminals are sociopaths, as bad or worse than those they condemn. And interestingly, most of those who want criminals killed share the same politics and religion as Scott Roeder, James Kopp, Jerry and Joseph Kane, and Anders Behring Breivik. .

Since you've worked in the CT system for 20 years would you please tell us exactly which prisons have the amenities that you site? Prison name and/or location (city/town) will suffice. thank you

And to all others reading this, what Bill says others do is exactly what he does. This is a guy who once described how he was going to sat in Heaven and watch someone burn in Hell. I do believe he needs to go to Church more and find out about what Heaven is really going to be like. He will not be gloating over death there as he does on this board. What Bill calls lies is really a joke. He claims he has proof that my husband who spent 27 years in the Air Force never served because I said joined the service instead of enlisted. Also, since I said my son was born in England, he was not born in England because he claims I would have said Great Britain. What a joke this guy really is. And now to you Don't Kill in my Name: Glad to see you are still around. What you said to LWD is exactly what I was thinking. This guy has apparently never worked in a prison as what he says is not true. He is repeating the same old garbage that many people print that really do not know. According to a survey with prison families about 2-3 years ago, the average amount most people were sending to prison to give their family member to meet the basic needs was $60.00 a week in Texas. This is not for luxuries, but for basic needs like toilet paper and bar soap which they get a limited amount of and not enough to last most for the month. How do those that have no family to support them manage? Even those in prison have more feeling for others than we are seeing on this board. Those that have support will help the others that don't. By the way, just read that 20 people had been set free in Texas since 2001 for crimes they did not commit. From what I have read, Dallas County has the most because they have kept DNA longer than most counties in Texas. Do prosecutors have to worry about not sharing with the defense information that will set a person free. According to the United States Supreme Court just about a year or so ago, no action would be taken against the Prosecutor that did this, so why should they care?

Well, we are hearing from the other part of the dynamic dolts. Where one of the liars shows up the other is not far behind. The two jokes or "birds of a feather." One of them lies and the other backs her up with another lie or distortion. Her comment about $60 per week for toilet paper, etc. is a total and complete joke!--- Sleezy, why don't you give us a reference to where you pulled that so-called survey out? Share with other inmates???? What planet do you live on? As to the use of the word "Heaven", I doubt that I have ever even used the word on this forum. I may be wrong, but certainly never would have used it in that context. If these two had been known about at the time of the Bible, there would have been an "Eighth Deadly Sin".

According to the United States Supreme Court just about a year or so ago, no action would be taken against the Prosecutor that did this, so why should they care? These!!! How have you been? Yes, I still come back every now and then to read the dribble from the d.p. advocates, and enjoy it the most when a state (in this case CT) is about to abolish because that's when there seems to be some extra squirming on their part. But the squirming is about done as I've just read that The CT House of Representatives voted in favor of the bill to repeal 86-62. Now it goes to Governor Malloy who has long ago said that if any such bill reached his desk he WOULD SIGN IT. It's my understand that he will take several weeks before doing so, but at this point it's pretty much a slam dunk. And so Connecticut will become state number 17 to join the ranks of civilization, and I for one couldn't be happier about that! With regard to lwd, you're likely right...never worked in a prison but on the outside chance that he did I needed to challenge his claim on the ridiculousness of it. I doubt that he will reply, and that's fine because any reasonable thinking person knows that prison is NOT the country club that the d.p. advocates make it out to be. I have no idea how the convicts without family manage. I would guess they scrape by somehow...maybe only use soap every other shower. Has to be a rotten existence, but then again they do earn that when they kill someone. 20 set free for crimes they didn't commit??? No....no way that could happen! Everyone knows that if they've been arrested, tried, and convicted by a jury of their peers THEY HAVE TO BE GUILTY!(insert sarcasm here). On the USSC decision prosecutors, I think I remember something about that. You're right! If they are not to be held accountable, what do they have to be concerned for! Just another flaw in the system in my opinion.

I gotta say, reading some of the things Lwd has said here, sounds like his attitude alone would get him into trouble among the inmates. I don't think I'd like to meet such a person on the street!
