Penman was soundly rebuked by the city. Mayor Morris retains a majority of forward thinking council people. Basically the good guys won.

It is a good day now. Penman has been defeated. It should be apparant now that he would have been devisive as the city's mayor, as opposed to being the cooperative effect leader necessary to hold this office. Many of us disapprove of the negative antics and unprofessional behavior that he continues to display. Way to stay classy in defeat, Penman! It could not have happened to a better man. Now, please work with your mayor to improve your city.

What about the recall?
Penman's obstructionist personality disorder was cited from various sources during the campaigns.
Shouldn't the city have as unobstructed a path toward success as possible?
Why keep an obstructionist with a tab to City exceeding $10,000,000.00 in lawsuits for bungled witch hunts (Flesh Club $2M+), and ill-treatment of residents (Arden-Guthrie $2M+), etcetera?

Voters have finally had enough of Penman and his self-serving tactics directed at undermining the effectiveness of city government. Hopefully he'll go back into the shadows and cease to be an undercurrent. If not, let him face the recall he knows he will lose. He should be made to pay for it too.

Yes, I agree with you.
Penman, I think, should be given the opportunity to step down, take early retirement (It'll cost us less than yet another of his repeated $2,000,000.00+ law suits for witch hunts & treating residents so poorly they're awarded $2M by the courts!
If he won't bow out, he should be moved aside.
We are on a pathway to progress and ALL obstacles in our pathway should be cleared aside.
Hopefully, Professor Jim Mulvilhill will run to replace Wendy MacCammack in 7th ward to clear that up.
BTW, did anyone else see Press Enterprise coverage with Jim, Wendy & Chas playing the close knit family - none of their true family members in sight?
Jim's the candidate and too old to have underage school children anymore. But Wendy & Chas still do. It says something about priorities when a parent walks away from their children on a school night to stand by "their man", lips gnawed at and hands being wrung, like a _wife_ would do - but Jim's most recent wife was nowhere to be seen...
Maybe she's too humiliated to come out in public with him anymore? I know the campaign photos he used of them as "the happy newlyweds" were dated from campaigns past - like his other photos.

The point is this. We are on the right path. There are a few really big boulders in our way. These past four years we've gotten some things accomplished despite them, but these next four years we can accomplish so much more with them out of the way.

The way I see it, we have various options.
1. Penman can retire & Wendy can calm down
2. Penman can retire & Wendy can resume motherhood
3. Penman can take medical leave & try to get better
4. Penman can be recalled & Wendy can remain 2 years
5. Penman can be recalled along with Wendy
6. Penman can be allowed to remain an obstacle & Wendy can, too.

Thank Goodness! Our city has spoken and it is clear who our mayor is and how much we want to move forward. We are sick and tired, I think, of the negativity, the grandstanding, the sniping. After decades of decline and poor choices, our city is *finally* moving forward along the path of its strong history and toward its bright future!

Unfortunately, the challenger's embarrassing comments and complete lack of grace suggest that we may need to brace for some distracting and negative activity, but that will move us closer to the recall that needs to happen.

Reason to celebrate this morning. Reason to hope.

Congratulations Mayor Morris! It's going to be a very good four years with the majority at the helm. Mr. Kelly and Ms. McCammack....please grow up and think about what is best for the City. Mr. DeJardins, please be wise who you align yourself with....

It's very interesting how quiet Mr. Penman's supporters are this morning. I certainly hope that he said more than what was quoted in the paper. If not, his hatred toward parolees runs very deep and even former parolees who have finished their parole and are now taking part in a democratic society! Shame on you Mr. Penman. It's time for you to move......leave the City to those who want to make positive progress--not just those fixated on parolees.

The population of San Bernardino is about 200,000. Reading the numbers and adding the math the confidence of the people is almost at a standstill. Boasting this win is foolish because only a handful of voters found it worthy to vote. The irony of the win is that majority of the votes derived from mailed ballots. This is a wake-up call for the mayor and council members to serve the people, be business friendly, and avoid self-interest. Good luck to the winning candidate.

Although I am pleased that Morris won I am disheartened that Desjardins won. This man only moved into the 2nd Ward in JULY of this year.
He owns a towing company on I St. & did not like that a major contract went to the Police Dept for impounding vehicles. He threw tantrums & demanded that Baxter change all this & when Baxter could not and voted for the PD, Desjardins threw a hissy fit, put his name on the ballot, keyed up w/ Penman who helped pay for his campaign signs and flyers *Crime Fighter*(YEAH RIGHT!!) & now he has a seat.
He came to my house (I live in that ward) & couldn't hold a simple debate with my husband. He used key words like 'Child Predators' & 'Meagan's Law' to make himself sound like he gave a crap about our community, but couldn't explain how someone who just moved into our neighborhood could possibly help fight for us. How it was convenient he only placed himself on the ballot once he lost the bid for the Police impounds. How he has no jurisdiction over Megan's Law, or monitoring 'Child Predators' and governing where they live. He bragged that he would bring jobs to our town, yet when asked why then he chose to have his banners/flyers printed from a company in Sacramento & not in San Bernardino, he clammed up. Once faced with these questions/challenges, he quickly changed tune, became almost upset that we weren't allowing his Penman-paid for signs in our lawn & took off. With no real explanation as to how he would benefit our ward.
I have to say I was not surprised last night to see him leading in the polls. When you go to the doors of families and use big political words like 'child predators' and 'crime fighting' you will see results. Because you're scaring people into thinking you can make changes that are outside of your realm. He lied to the district about how long he has been a resident & he has lied to the city regarding his motives for taking the seat.
Hopefully in the future people will stop glomming onto key words & will actually research the people/con artists they vote for.

12,295 only 12,295 voters out of a pop. of over 200,000 thought this election was worthy of their voting, and we wonder why everything in this Country is going to he11. We don't bother to put our two cents in when it will count, at the voting booth, and then bitch when things don't go the way we want them. Our Founding Father would be proud.

The sad thing is that this election had the highest voter turnout in years.

Congrats to Morris!

One of the reasons I didn't vote for our city attorney is his bitter, angry temperment. Rather than merely congratulating Morris for his victory, the city attorney tried to sully the act by claiming criminals were a strong enough voting block to put our mayor back in office. The only thing that makes me happier that Morris beat him was that Morris beat his bitter opponent decisively.

Congrats to Mayor Morris!!! This city is moving in the right direction with his re election. I only hope that Mr Penman and his significant others Wendy and Chas can stop putting a wrench in progress and start looking at whats best for the city. It is sad when certain council members make there votes based on Hatred instead of whats best for the ward they serve.

Another board member with an axe to grind. Great. Can you imagine how pleasant and rosy a cup of coffee and breakfast with him, Penman and McCammack would be? I've seen a positive side of Kelley, can't say the same for the Penman crusaders. Too bad for Baxter, but the good guys still have the majority.
