I'm responding to this also, I was a victim of a hit and run by and illegal alien. He turned himself in, we went to court and the judement stipulated if he didn't follow the probation requirements he would be deported. What a joke. The illegal alien desserted as my lawyer told me he would. That is just one crime commited. If they are here illegally why not commit crime all they do is get deported. They have nothing to lose, and our State is complaining about budget. When will anybody get out of there trance and realize they are here ILLEGALLY, and its Ok. Please let me know why they get aid and in some cases the average american has a hard time. That is just one of many factors in the BS political game. Who is getting paid off up there?

I say they are welcomed here to work and given the chance to contribute to my country. Are we going to have bad apples? YES, Have they done anything to me? NO. Don't be s-tupid..Matter of fact it has been proven that Illegals actually contribute more to the public sector then they consume. How devoted are you to kick them out? are you willing to boycott any products touched by Illegal aliens? I didn't think so. Don't think you can do without veggies and fruit and many other products.

Look.. tell that to my cousins wife who lost her mother to a drunk driver who just happens to be White. She was standing on the corner of colima and mulberry when this drunk came hauling ass down colima and ran her over instantly killing her. He was given a very soft sentence.. does this make it ok because he was an American citizen? NO does my cousin hate whites? NO Was it right what the Illegal did to you? NO Why not fight for Immigration reform instead of wishing that someone goes back to the poor house

Congratulations to the Pico Sheriffs Dept for finally taking a stand against graffiti. I recently reported a group of taggers who were caught but I also realized that it takes a community to help catch those that are doing this. The group in hand here were minors the age about 13- 15, I took pics of the act in progress called the Sheriffs Dept and within 5 mins they had them all in custody. What a great feeling it was to see them do there job quickly, effienciently, and have them in custody. Hold the parents responsible for all damages done to property. Let the parents see what it is costing us the American Taxpayer to clean up their mess.

It takes more than just a specialized unit to deter this criminal behavior. It takes a joint effort by the city and the school district.

I agree that this is an entry crime into more serious behavior. But most important is that it can be deterred if we are able to flip the switch in the student’s minds so they get it, that this is the moment that will change their lives. And they have the power to seize it.
Because ultimately it is the students who will have to decide, all we can do is persuade or punish.

Let's get a leadership taskforce of City Council, School Board and law enforcement to impact our students before they enter a lifestyle of crime.

It is not the role of the Sherriff Department alone to educate, there job is to enforce law. The responsibility for education is falls under school board.

I totally agree that taggers should, of all kinds, become terminated but don't pay partiallity to those kids who have parents in jobs of administration, higher position, and a certain Councilman Ron Beilke's son, Who was involved in rape, tagging, and in possession of a police gun and car. Of course, Ron Beilke pulled strings so his son was never in jail much less convicted. Do you want a person like this to represent us as a councilman to continue his monarchy of puppets not only in the city but also in the police department. Former City Clerk Mr. Spenser and Captain Berreas left the job because of jeopardizing their integrity.and statues.
Vote NO ON "MEASURE TR" and DON'T RE-ELECT RON BEILKE!!!!!!!

Geez how did politics come into this? Either or I think both of the parties aren't worth a flying....

soo true, also, i was involved in a hit and run. The guy was an illegal but he was not of hispanic descent, he was of asian descent. Apparently he left our country the following day. He had been driving the work truck.

Shouldn't the comments be about the story and not about undocumented residents? I mean there is enough fodder on both sides to have a drawn out discussion on the number of undocumented residents in this country and what they are and are not doing to the system. But that discussion is not for this comment section. I am more interested to know what the L.A. County Sheriff's Department and City of Pico Rivera staff are going to do to curb the growing epidemic of tagging in the city. Let's keep the focus of the comments to that topic.
