Kudos to Mr Bradford for all of his efforts in preserving our Pedro legacy of the fishing industry. My Mom put us all through school working at the canneries on TI. It is hard to understand someone not liking fish though. Growing up in Pedro and not liking fish? I thought that that was against the law in Pedro? lol Remember when "The Church" made us eat fish on Fridays? I miss that wonderful smell of fish cooking coming from the Island. The smell of those hard working ladies coming home from work on the many busses we had here in Pedro. Going down to the docks on 22nd street and The Forty Thieves Fish Market? The Fishermen on the docks with their nets spread all over the place mending the holes from the previous night's work. My brother worked on a bait boat and one time he brought home a baby seal and put it in our bathtub for safe keeping. It had got tangled in the nets and was injured. He released it after my Mom repaired the scrapes and tears on it's little body. Thanks for the memories Mr. Bradford, but, you should try some good fish sometime.

The memories are nice, but San Pedro is trying to drive into the future by looking in the rear view mirror. It has more monuments than most third world cities when it needs dynamic investment to make the waterfront a vital attraction. And by that I don't mean lining the pockets of the usual chosen few who hang around the council office.

Fortune favors the bold. Fixing the waterfront is a great way to honor Pedro's past.

My family worked in the fishing industry here in San Pedro. I look forward to getting this book.

I remember the great times I had at the fisherman's fiesta. The swordfish sandwiches were hard to beat. I took my family a few years ago and it was overrun with police and gang members. Our streets are filled with criminals, illegal aliens and their fruit stands and prepared food carts...Who would have thought?

Councilwoman Hahn thinks this is good for us.

Daily Horoscope for May 24

Aquarius

In complete contrast to yesterday, you have your head screwed on firmly today. Yet you won't be boringly sensible or drearily practical, so there's no danger of you having turned into a dry old stick overnight. It's a good day for keeping track of important details and processes, such as confirming a forthcoming appointment or filling in a form and then making a copy of it before sending it off.
