'The Reign of the Ayatollahs' by Shaul Bakhash covers that issue quite well.

The shah was kicked out by CIA, Carter, and the gang. They wanted to make the region Islamic. Be carefull what you wish for. So the propaganda againt him was sky high. He was very soft and kind and not at all the Dictator that the media made him to be. From the moment he left the country we never had freedom and security we enjoyed under his rule. God bless our King, he made us very proud. Happy bithday to father of Persia.

In my tribe Folks say: Haife kori Rizakhane katchel merd , ve min nah kushteme .

Which mean I am sad son of Rizakhan the aass died and we have been deprived from the honor for eliminating him.

The thief Riza khan when captured by allies he had acquired 75% of cultivatable land in iran,

Son of thief Riza khan will spend next twenty years selling the lands to their original owners and calling it land reform.Never heard such swindler ruling iran in fifty thousand years,

the shah's strong arm tactics were necessary in dealing with islamist hardliners and kgb funded agitators.
just look at neighboring turkey and kemal attiturk's efforts against his own theocratic minded opponents. modernizing any muslim society requires a steel fist against islamists. mossadiq, even with massive support, couldn't have deterred mullahs away without force.he also was mistaken in not contracting his american admirers to come and train iranians to run his british built refinery he nationalized + u.s.navy escort for getting oil tankers past the royal navy blockade. shah, though corrupt like many politicians, was the pragmatist that mossadiq would have required.it was really british petroleum who manipulated the u.s. into bloodlessly pushing aside mossadiq in favor of shah. american incompetence recurred again in jimmy carter's stabbing the shah in the back in favor of ayatollah komeini.

Happy Birthday! A majority of Iranians now regret the revolution that destroyed Iran.

The Shah did many more positive things for us. The Iranian economy was very strong, women, religeous minorities had all freedom. Iran had its first woman minister in 1967, 10 years before Italy!

Iranians were respected all around the world and happy at home.

The Shah was not perfect but the reason they cut him short is not because of some corruption and repression (many many countries in the region and beyond had much more) but because he was making of Iran a too powerful a country in contradiction with the West's interest in the region. So the Americans and the British created the revolution in 1 year.

The Iranian people has nothing to do with the current fundamantalist regime. Iranians are very peaceful people who love the West. One day Iran will be free and prsperous again.

"...allegedly with the secret help of U.S. forces,..."

There is nothing alleged about this historical fact! The role of the CIA and the British intelligence is documented in the released material from the US National Archives, PBS documentaries have been released and aired, and Clinton, Obama, Albright,... have talked about it.

There are other opinions, I am sure. Just like there are people who think the Earth is flat! However, so far as what is reflected in the historical documents, the world alleged should be removed from the sentence.

This is totally irresponsible of you to try to celebrate birthday of this murdering tyrant. Happy Birthday! It is better to celebrate his death.

So, if you are trying to generate readers and subscribers, you are going about it in a wrong way. He was nothing but a stooge and a murdering thug and he got what he deserved, twice! Or maybe three times, he is dead now.

Esther answering you in a clear and loud voice..
You know nothing about Iran and Iranian
As an Iranian who had lived in Iran before and after revolution and been in exile for 25 years.
Shah and his father changed the country and the people of Iran for good and the moulahs destroyed all the progress and created evil.
Leave it to us Iranian to wish our Shah a happy birthday if we so desire. Thank you...

Very informative about a controversial figure. Articles such as this are important, whether the person was good or evil.

So true. The world changed the day you were hounded from Iran. You were speaking up for Iran and not being the puppet they wanted you to be. Your regime was not perfect, but your heart was in the right place and you had a vision that would bring comfort and prosperity to all Iranians eventually.
I am so sorry for the people of Iran who were used by the religious fanatics ..........and the mullahs took over and wrecked havoc on the people....sending little children to their deaths in the killing fields near Iraq.........while America supplied the Iraqis with intelligence and saw that the Saudis funded the war. The world is such an evil place.

The darkness that has befallen your beloved Iran....our beloved Iran.....it is good you are not here to see the suffering of the people you loved so well.
For your detractors....even the sad history of contemporary Iran is no lesson. For your many, many friends the vindication is little comfort.
Rest in peace....patriot, honorable King of Iran...& when light overcomes darkness...your people will be free to express their appreciation: for land reform, for women's rights, for literacy programs, for universities, for the national grid, for 1973, for the healthcare corp, and on and on....
The 90th anniversary of your birth...a blessed day in our calendar.

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Taurus

Friends and partners aren't behaving as you would like today. They're eager to go their own way, much to your annoyance. In order to get round this you're going to have to ask yourself some tricky questions, such as whether you're trying to control everyone's behavior or whether they're being inconsiderate in wanting to do their own thing. It's a Full Moon and a lunar eclipse, so maybe you should all release the tension by making it a super New Year's Eve celebration?
