I have a son in kirkuk iraq now,,and it's surprising to me how little we hear about kirkuk..It's not as safe there as the media would lead us to believe!! There's a war going on there! Our soldiers are dying and fighting but you rarely hear anything about the situation they are in ...Kirkuk has been presented as the " time bomb of iraq" set to go off at any time..Support our troops..

My husband is in Kirkuk and I agree there isn't enough attention put there. He can't tell me everything but it would be nice to hear something from someone, other than it's an oil-rich area that the Kurds are battling for control of.

We also have a son & a daughter-in-law in kirkuk iraq and we hear every little from them, I would like to hear more about whats going on and how our TROOPS are doing over there. So maybe somebody will listen to the comcerned parnets, wifes, & citizens back home that love & support all they are doing for our country! GOD BLESS THE TROOPS!! AND KEEP EACH AND EVERY TROOP IN YOUR THROUGHTS & PRAYERS!!

My boyfriend has been in kirkuk for about 4 month now, I hear from him almost everyday. He talks about there down time mostly since he doesn't ike to worry me. But it kind of secures me to know all the men out there get along and have poker night, contests, get the latest in movies and remenise about coming home to a good home cooked meal. Words can't explain how much my heart melts for those men and women.

Kirkuk is as safe as the media states, probably even more so; yes there are acts of violence here and there, but tell me where zero acts of violence happen in Iraq???? There is definitely tension within the province and city, but for now we are able to sustain peace. Kirkuk citizens pride themselves on being one of the safest cities in Iraq; it is also definitely not Mosul.

i just returned from kirkuk in febuary, and let me assure everyone who has a loved one there, kirkuk is not that bad. of course there is always danger there, but the danger to actual incident ratio is very low by comparison to say balad or mosul. kirkuk is one of the, not exactly safer, but you should be glad they are there and not elsewhere. i know from personal experience, and i hope i can ease some of the minds of those waiting for people they love. best of luck to all of them.

Im currently in kirkuk, it isnt that bad, although there are things happening here we arent directly in danger. try not to worry about your loved ones, just plan a good meal for them when they come home, because the food here is...well, it isnt always the best!

My boyfriend is in Kirkuk right now, and he usually calls me at least once a day. I heard that troops are going to have to pull out of Iraqi cities by the end of the month, but he is stationed there until October or November. Does anyone know anything about what's happening with that? My heart goes out to all families, friends, and loved ones who have someone overseas right now. God Bless our troops!

just wanted to take a moment to tell our soldiers in Kirkuk that we love you very much and thank you. My husband is there and has managed once again in surviving another attack, but his friend and soldier of 5 years did not. I ask you to please keep in touch with the ones you love there and let them know how brave and and wonderful they are, because news papers and the news does not explain how soldiers feel when they loose their friends. Our Kurth died thursday when a kid through a grenade in his vehicle. They caught that kid but could not save my friend. Kurth you will be greatly missed and always will be in our heart. To Kurths wife Robin if at any time you need us please let us know. And to Kurths family in New Mexico ... Well i just want to say i'm sorry, so very sorry and to let you know we loved him to he was part of our family as well.

I also have a son in Kirkuk, he actually just got there a few weeks ago. He rarely calls and says that he will not be able to call for a while. I hope to GOD that's not true. But I am grateful for the time that he does get to call. I try going on to any and all websites that I can to try and get any updates but like everyone else they are few and far between. Thank you so much to everyone that has posted a comment. My son doesn't tell me much of anything that goes on there he just talks about home. GOD Bless our troops.
