Full story: Oroville Mercury-Register

Lately I've been reading letters regarding Aaron Rodgers. I think it's wonderful that we have a hometown boy whose dreams have come true.

Butte County has many of it's sons and daughters who have chose to unselfishly served their country. We must never forget those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms. There was a young man in Paradise who also was killed in this war. Unfortunatly I cannot recall his name.
For those who live in the world of reality, pray for our sons and daughter and don't forget to pray for their familys. They are the ones who anxiously wait to hear from their loved ones in war zones when they hear of the death of one of our military fighting for their county. Much thanks to our military and their familys. God bless America and help those who stand in the way.

My two older sons served in the military right out of high school, both for 8 years. I thank God every day that there was no war going on then. They served peacefully but it was always in the back of my mind that at any moment a foreign country could be attacking (Remember Pearl Harbor?) Prayers are always with the families who have lost loved ones.
Thank You

The respect and admiration I have for your son, although I have never met him, is insurmountable. I Served in the gulf war in 92 and was very fortunate. There isn't a day that go's by that I don't think about the many men and women sacrificing for our country. As a tear comes to my eye I pray for your son and your family and hope that everyone will always respect and remember your son and others who have sacrificed for our nation. God bless you !!!!!!

It is good to remember all the men and women who have served. My youngest spent 2008 in Baghdad in harms way. He has told of many occasions where people thanked him for his service and it brought joy to my heart as well. America isn't dead, just asleep

I believe that the best way that we can honor these brave men and women is to ensure that they are sent to fight only as a last resort. We must be sure that the reasons for endangering our children are true, reasonable, and just.

We can thank Bush for all the senseless deaths. The POS should look into the faces of those kids who have died and then explain again his reasons for starting another Vietnam...God Bless our troops and their families.

Ubetcha - our pop idol president that YOU elected hasn't withdrawn our troops as he promised. If Bush has blood on his hands, so does Obama.

No way, you loony.
I despise the murdering scum and the country they love.
They could have made efforts to live decent, worthwhile lives doing good and helping folk.
Instead they chose to kill, rape, torture and abuse people who never posed any threat.
Get on your knees and read the Bible.

If you have to go the source of those who bravely gave their lives for this country, why don't you acuse Ben Ladin or the Taliban. They were the ones who committed sensesless acts of human carnage prior to the war.
President Bush only had the guts and fortitude to fight back when his predessor Clinton and Bush Sr didn't. If you like the idea of Isalm agressors attacking us on our soil, then keep your blinded ideas and get a Prop 215 recommendation to help your delusion.
My children and many members of my family have answered the call to defend our country and it's way of life. Leave George W. alone. He acted bravely. Better than being a coward and trying to act it never happen. People like you disgust me to the core. You don't deserve to live in this country.

It is not Bush or "ben ladin" that are responsible for the carnage, it is the people who blindly believe that these children are maimed and killed in the name of freedom. What utter stupidity. Our freedom is not threatened by this rag tag bunch of cave dwellers, and Bush's enemy, Iraq, had nothing to do with 9/11.

The murdering filth who illegally occupy Iraq to steal its oil for the Bush consortium are not serving the country in any way.
Nor are they protecting freedoms which Iraq never threatened in any way.
Nor did they make any ultimate sacrifices. Their evil, worthless lives were justifiably snuffed out by patriots defending their families and country.
God won't be blessing America. He despises the cesspit it has become.
You need to get out more and find a new religion.
This is so obviously true.
