Hopefully these students can debate and talk about opposing viewpoints in more civilized manner then most of the posting boards are.

I am a hetero, married father of two and I do not feel threatened by the "homosexual agenda". I personally feel more threatened by the Advance American Christian agenda.

I have beaten this point to a pulp. When will it stop. Will the ultra-Christian right start lobbying for other laws to invade my personal life if they get this one passed? When will I be the target. It has to stop.

Legislating morallity is a slippery slope that once started can have dire consequences for everyone.

I still ask the anti same sex people, how is this really hurting YOU? If Adam and Steve live a good life together, pay their taxes, vote and try not to hurt others, what is so wrong with that? IF allowed to have a civil union or a marriage they are probably more like to stay together because of all the trouble it took to get that right.

%50 of heteros divorce anyway, so most so-called Christians do not hold the "sacred" marriage right to heart anyway. The two main supporters of the bill, Hershman and Miller have seriously checkered pasts when it comes to marriage and the "family" agenda.

I am hetero and proud. If you do not want to be gay, dont be, but do not discriminate because a book that you follow tells you it is wrong. Some people my not follow that book and government should not force it on the rest of us.

Ah, a day of silence from the gay rights gestapo. Why just one day? Let's shoot for a whole year.

If we are going to allow this,I believe we should also bring prayer back into schools or at least put the same effort for people of faith and set aside an appionted time for prayer for those that have morality issues

I didn't realize that Christian students were picked on, teased, called names, bullied and harrassed at school. Gay kids are - every day. They are called faggot, queer, dyke and a whole host of other names. They are sometimes driven to suicide or attempted suicide because of it. That's why the Day of Silence is so important. The supports of "The Day of Truth" are just seeking to continue the bullying of gay kids. Bigotry is alive and well in Indiana.

Not to be mean but who really is gonna approve of this when we cant even get over our racist issues. People arent even smart enough not to judge people by their color let alone sexual prefrence. Not that Im against, to each their own. But people are so judgemental.

Sad, the way the media in general, and the AP in particular choose their terms to give all their articles a pro-gay slant. There is no objectivity anymore. Ed Murrow would be disgusted.

To those participating on either side: Be careful about judging others behavior. As a Christian, I embrace my homosexual brothers and sisters in Christ even though I believe the behavior is a sin. I would welcome them into my home or my church and ministry. The ONLY restriction would be that they would be treated as anyone else who participates in known sinful behavior: They could not be in a leadership position.

Unfortunately, too many Christians have decided that being gay or lesbian is a "special" sin that is treated more harshly than gossip, robbery, lying, etc. God is very clear that all are welcome in His kingdom if they choose to follow Christ Jesus. None of us can know what the Holy Spirit is doing in a person at any one time; it may be that there is something else the Lord had chosen to address with each particular person.

I am a Christian but I am not perfect. Like Paul, I ask why I do what I know the Lord doesn't want me to do and why do I not do what He does want me to do. Each of us is a sinner, in need of salvation. Rather than rally with signs of hatred or judgment (e.g., "all gays are going to hell" and worse), for our sake and theirs we need to embrace them with Jesus' love and grace. Reading the scriptures and taking them in their totality, it is clear that Jesus continued to condemn sin but He embraced sinners (otherwise we wouldn't need Him).

We straight people have much to learn from the Lord just as our gay and lesbian brothers and sisters do. I pray the Lord will bless all of you with His grace, forgiveness, and love.

WHAT IS GOD'S VIEW?
ROMANS 1: 22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

Oh. I got all excited for a second. I thought this was talking about the University of Newcastle in NSW, Australia. Whose queer students are, incidentally taking action against the uni for allowing a Gloria Jeans franchise on campus.
But still, go these highschool students. It takes alot of courage.

The bible-thumpers like you who deny people rights based upon their sexual orientation are the only ones who have 'morality issues'.

Okay, just read the actual story. Here's my thoughts:

As long as they don't let this devolve into a shouting match, I'm all for both of these groups being able to speak their pieces. I seriously doubt that either side will ever convince the other, but hopefully, some of the undecideds will be presented with information that will convince them to take a stand on this issue, one way or the other. Granted, I'm biased, and hope that the GLBT group convinces more, but I'm under no delusions that both sides will gain some support.

I do also appreciate how the principal is refraining from voicing his opinion or support for either group. Hopefully, these students will prove their maturity, and the principals trust won't be misplaced.

Comments like those from Bud are exactly why GLBTQ teens have a suicide rate that is three times higher than their straight classmates. Public education exists for ALL students, gay or straight. Another example of people of this state thinking it is okay to deny gay people the EQUAL right of a public education.

By the way there are gay high schools in this country. I wrote my masters thesis on their effectiveness compared to traditional classrooms.

Yes, Christian students are belittled and ridiculed everyday in school. You probably don't notice because it usually comes from thier liberal teachers.

"The idea was to allow an opportunity for Christian students and those who adhere to a traditional moral viewpoint ... to respectfully present their side of the issue," Johnson said. "What we've found is typically it's the Christian kids who are being censored in their speech so that's why this is being created for them."

Wow, what a crock of BS. I have no problem with these kids expressing their opinions, unfortunately it's usually at the expense and degradation of someone else.

We'll see if they can actually 'respectfully present their side of the issue' without offending anyone.

What they need to remember is that they are placing religious dogma up against basic human rights.

This is just the latest fad the kids think it's cool to support, like legalizing drugs.
