ACLU is wacko. The "In God We Trust" plate is not a specialty plate. You do not have to buy it because it is an opional choice that is available in that market. Why don't we have these fools file suit against the supper markets for selling Fruit Loops. They are a specialty cerial for kids. Or how about Ford Motor Company. They sell cars to only Ford drivers and that makes them a specialty car. I like the idea of filing suit against ACLU. They are a firm that files suits for only specialty groups called idiots. It looks like ACLU stands for 'All Crap Less Union'.

So basically after the mess gets sorted out the "In God We Trust" plate will have a fee attached to it like everything else so that we can all be "equal" and happy. Mark and the glorious ACLU will end up forcing people to pay for something that was once free to them. Yippee!

What a waste of time. Frankly lets raise all the plates to $100 and see which ones prosper and which ones fail. I suspect In God We Trust fans and die hard IU fans would keep their plate numbers up while the environmentalist and kid first plates would die to the wayside.

Nothing like the ACLU to attack God. They hate God and want to make sure that evil has a chance to take hold.

They claim to be for constitutional rights, but when was the last time they defended a case involving the second amendment?

The dude that is the subject of this story needs to get a freakin life! Quit you whining and trying to get God removed from everything you don't like. In this country, we trust in God. If you want to fork out your money for your cute little environmental tree hugger license plate, then go ahead. Fortunately, our legislators are smart enough to know that you don't charge extra for what any common sense American knows... we trust in GOD!!!

if i have to pay a fee to use government produced plates that say in god we trust, they should have to pay to use governmnent produced currency that says in god we trust. each of their dollars should only be worth .85. arizona florida kentucky ohio and south dakota all reference god in their state mottos. these represent their population without any room to choose. indiana is giving their residents the freedom to choose. and let's face it,$25 isn't going to save the environment. you don't pay that to make a difference. you could save that money and volunteer to restore a marshland or adopt a buffalo or something. you pay that money so you can look like you are helping the environment. why would you have a car at all if you are that into the environment? or a rusty metal plate that will seep into the water system killing algae and reducing vegetation for aquatic life? it's a farce i tell you! what a maroon!

Actually since churches are tax-exempt entities, the USA has a long tradition of granting 'special privileges' to religion. This special license plate might be found to be unconstitutional since it only offers "ONE" religious choice (i.e. Christian). If alternative choices are offered, it's possible this could pass a constitutionality test without adding a few.

Of course, this is all in theory. In reality, even most judges will probably throw this claim out as 'frivilous' since $15 isn't a huge expense.

What next, women suing for having more expensive haircuts? Wait, that's already been tried.

Let’s handle it on a different way:

Just introduce some other
"free" plates like Allah or Jahveh so anyone can make his own choice "free".

The ACLU/ICLU always has a complaint where people of faith try to express.

How come the ACLU/ICLU didn't condem the burning of a church at Easter? There was no statement about that hate-inspired crime in the press.

Ken, any comment(s)? Didn't think so.

Here's a question. Is the "In God We Trust" plate the official plate for the state of Indiana? Because specialty plates all have a $15-$25 administrative fee. The article states that the "In God We Trust" plates are more expensive to produce, and yet there is no fee to offset the extra production expense, the extra expense of storage, the extra expense of having to pay people to get the plates to hand out (since they're not available for mail-in or internet renewals.) Those are all things that an administrative fee SHOULD cover.

If supporting your religion or the national motto, is that important to you, shouldn't you be willing to pay only $15 for the privilege?

The fee charged on specialty plates should apply to this plate, as the special phrasing uses more space than the Indiana logo and almost as much as the plate number. This clearly qualifies it as special, and as such it deserves no exemption. If you wish to publish your views you still pay the cost of printing.

I say that "In God We Trust" is a Federal protected motto that should not have any fees be placed upon it.

Any thoughts?

I would suggest that the BMV add a "ACLU SUCKS" plate to the available specialty plate list.

No doubt whether at no additional cost or with an extra fee attached such a plate would likely be extremely popular here in Indiana.
