Thanks for making the decision of leaving Perry Schools to private schools easier. I lost trust in the board

I don't live in Perry Township but I have been following this saga with great interest. I'm not sure of Indiana law but can't the parents call for a recall election of the 4 school board members that seem to be instigating this whole drama?
Or can't the school board just void the Superintendent's contract? It might cost some money but they are paying the guy to not do anything anyway. These folks down in Perry Township are living examples for children to see how not to act.

These four board members appear to have this vendetta against the Superintendent without really giving exact details of the acts he has apparently done.

This makes the next school board election much easier....at least I know who I'm not voting for. I completely support Dr. Williams and hate to see such an injustice carried out on a wonderful administrator.

I hear you, Parent, but this board is not Perry schools. In what other multi-million-dollar corporation would any reasonable, thinking, responsible person allow those who know nothing about their business to walk in and assume they should make professional decisions? Even the board member with some experience has limited experience and only at the elementary level.

I have given up trying to understand the demons that are driving these misdirected individuals who think it's all about them. The system can go to hell for all they care. But it won't last. And teachers will keep doing good work because none of these power-hungry board members will even darken the doors of most of our buildings.

They have already doomed the new hi-tech high school. That's dead, and all those "dropouts" they care so much about will not get what they need to be successful adults in our district. The gang should sleep well on that.

"I cannot vote for this because Dr. Williams has breached my trust so much it's irreparable," she said.

Well, I cannot vote for ANY of the current board members. The damage they have caused, while not irreparable, is so bad that I want to wipe the slate clean and start over.

Board members said they do not know when Williams' indefinite administrative leave will end.

Because they have no plan. Haven't had a plan. And still don't have a plan.

Great leaders huh?

You're right, as a teacher, I will continue to do my best and make sure my students are prepared for the next step in their educational venture, whether that be the next grade or college. I do everything I can not to allow the board's apathy and destructiveness interfere with my classroom. The problem, however, is that the lack of decision the board is showing will affect my classroom in the next few years. Board decisions don't have an immediate effect, so I guess things will really fall apart in the next year or so. Thanks, school board. Even if you're right in putting Dr. Williams on leave, which you're not, you've turned a great school system into a landfill of doubt and apathy. Good job, ladies.

I am a former student and valedictorian of Southport High School, brought up through Homecroft
Elementary and Keystone Middle schools. The controlling actions of these four board members are selfish, self-serving and short-sighted. They should be ashamed of themselves and all resign immediately.

If I lived in Perry township, I know some school board members would be impeached. These elected officials are not following the will of the people who elected them. This amounts the them saying to those who elected them, your stupid and we'll do what we want, and we didn't ask for your opinion nor do we want it. People of Perry township, it's your problem, you elected them. You should get rid of them.

There is supposed to be a proposal coming up for vote in the house to have a recall option. I urge that all interested in making sure that we have an out when individuals are elected but fail to professionally do the jobs their constituents expect. I will try to find the actual number for this bill and post it. Behind the scenes, action is being taken to investigate some of the board members for violation of existing codes. I will also post this information once confirmation from the legal agency has been given so that action can be taken.

is their any way to have these 4

"petty tyrants" removed from

office??

These four idiots have literally spit in the faces of everyone living in Perry. They are acting like little children and wont listen to the majority of people that want this man back.

They will never , ever admit that they might have made a mistake in dis-missing this good man.

It would be in the best interest of Perry Schools if they could find a way to get rid of them NOW.

There is nothing that we can do. There are no legal channels to have them removed or to seek a new election. "Take Perry Schools Back" has looked in to anything and everything legally, and there are no options until the next election. I have 2 kids in elementary and I am afraid for their future in this district by the decisions of these 4 bimbo's.

Can anyone point to an article that explains shows a timeline of what they feel this man did wrong, and what there response has been.

The take back perry schools site could be useful if it actually included this background information. Everybody is slinging mud and I can't figure out why.

I hate to break it to you people, but you cannot impeach an elected board member. Right or wrong, they are constitutionally elected and did what they have the power to do. If you don't like them, vote them out.

Elected Boards and Superintendents have very specific roles and responsibilities. It looks like the board, over time, may have given over all their governance power to the Superintendent and that is not a good thing.

I have the greatest respect for Dr. Williams, but he may have actually been the one who became the "petty tyrant". As the old saying goes--"Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely."

School systems are not dictatorships, even if the dictator is benevolent. School systems are public and should operate as any other public institution operates.

Boards are elected and are accountable to the public. Superintendents are not elected, but are held accountable to the board. Dr. Williams may have forgotten that little detail.

As for the elected board--they have handled this very badly and should not be reelected.

Williams was named superintendent of the year in '03 and is backed by parents and teachers. What credentials do the four board members that voted him off have? It sounds like Adams is on a powertrip. Can anyone put her on indefinite leave?

These four women clearly came into office with an agenda. We need to find a way to have these members impeached. It's amazing that he was good enough to renew his contract just months before these vultures got into office...LET'S GET THEM OUT OF HERE!
