Your real bright there. Henry Louis Gates has lived in that home for over twenty years. I should know, I grew up with his daughters.:) Now a person of Skip’s,(Henry's nickname) stature is well know. It is no secret that he lives in that house as he needs special protection from the populace (something that comes with being a celebrity). Now, again a man of Skip’s stature lives in a home for over twenty years and when the police are called about a potential break in he winds up arrested. Sounds a little fishy to me and surely does not add up, especially in the context of Boston’s well know rosy history with minorities. Boston has long been known as a bastion of race bigotry and separation, no, secret there. Most will confirm that. Consequently being that Skip and Barack are well acquainted it’s not odd that Barack would bring the issue to light, and I commend him for doing so. This is a serious issue and could have ended badly for him, if he did not have his current status. In the Washington region this past weekend a 5 foot 1 100 pound Hispanic lady was beaten horrendously by a traffic officer when she failed to produce identification. It was later confirmed that she did not understand the commands of the officer. You should have seen her after shots. She was badly bruised with multiple contusions. Now I can understand frustration on the officers part in attaempting to communicate with an individual with limited understanding of the English language, however, to badly beat an unarmed woman to the point of medical care is grossly negligent. This is still America’s nasty little truth and is something that she be discussed and dealt with in a far more decisive manner. The police are charge with the duties of protecting citizenry, not with victimizing it!

Who cares how long someone lived in a certain house. If I see anyone jimmying a door lock I'll call the police.
