Especially since quasi government entities import most of the illegal drugs or protect those that do.Normal people might want to become informed about what is going on. http://www.youtube.com/watch...

I have been what I would consider a "responsible pot smoker" for 12 years with no arrests. All paraphernalia even stayed in a single room in my house. My house was broken into while I was working. By law the police were allowed to enter without my presents or permission. They were in my room and saw paraphernalia, took pictures then raided my house the next day. So since you seem to think you have all the answers please explain how I could have avoided that situation. I went from a victim to a criminal like that? FACT: Indiana Marijuana laws are to strict! Knowing the penalties for smoking pot and doing it anyway (and in such a manner as to get caught) is not what a "wise" person would do. It's easy to avoid the penalties for smoking pot. Just don't.

The prestige of government has undoubtedly been lowered considerably by the Prohibition law. For nothing is more destructive of respect for the government and the law of the land than passing laws which cannot be enforced. It is an open secret that the dangerous increase of crime in this country is closely connected with this. - Albert Einstein

Heh it is funny you said this, I just read an article in a journal wherein some researchers determined that cannabis was a key ingredient in the anointing oil used by Jesus and early Christians. It is speculated that, because THC is oil-soluble and could be absorbed through the skin, that there might have been a slight high gained from being anointed. Cannabis has been a large part of religious rituals for far longer than Christianity has been around however; scientists have found the mummy (of a Caucasian person actually, which is interesting in and of itself) of a 3,000 year-old Chinese holy man buried with a large urn of cannabis. They speculate that it was used in religious ceremony. I originally read this in Smithsonian magazine, but here is an article detailing it: http://tywkiwdbi.blogspot.com/2008/11/caucasi...

Man, I read the first few pages of this. That AnnaLynn chick is hilarious - some classic trollage. I particularly love how she's talking about addiction when she's made 5000 posts to this site in two years. LOL. That's, what, 5 a day?
A shining example of restraint and self-discipline! This sort of hilarity is pretty much the status quo when it comes to "criminal" justice. By and large, the system is ran by silly women.
You get caught with a bag of weed, and then you're on probation, and some holier-than-thou passive aggressive 300lb whale of a woman tries to pretend that you're a malfunctional human being because you like to get blazed and play video games.
I mean, to all you haters out there - have you ever really played Bioshock while stoned? Come on.

Derrick wrote: I believe that current marijuana laws in Indiana are far to harsh. A first time possession charge can put an otherwise responsible tax-paying citizen in jail for a year and/or a $5000 fine. Not only that, it creates a criminal record for the individual making it almost impossible to find decent job. In 2002, over 14,000 individuals were arrested in Indiana for marijuana. That's an amazing 5.5% of all arrest. That boils down to over 14,000 individuals unable to find a job because of their new criminal records which means that that person is no longer able to pay taxes that we all must pay so the police can continue to make these thousands of pointless arrest. And not all these arrest were just kids, about 70% of these arrest are individuals 20 years old or older. Marijuana has been proven to be much more safe than tobacco or drinking. Thousands and thousands of people die every year from tobacco or drinking; none one has ever died from smoking marijuana. Ask yourself what's the worse that could happen if Indiana put a lower priority and eliminated the crimal court system from marijuana. Some states have adobted a system that eliminates the responsible, adult pot smoker from the criminal system by issuing the individual with a ticket, like a speeding ticket, that the individual just needs to pay a fine ($100 in Ohio) and recieves no criminal records. Indiana would spend less of our tax money on pointless arrest leaving more money for real criminals such as gangs, murders, and rapist and not to mention all the extra tax money our state would recieve from all the responsible, adult marijuana users that are able to continue working their good jobs. Just think about it. Is marijuana illegal because it's bad or is marijuana bad because it's illegal? STOP BREAKING THE LAW A__HOLE....you won't have to worry about how harsh they are....

Who is this lady? Let me guess, Republican, non-smoker, non-drinker, single, and has NEVER tried even a puff, but will certainly defend the anti-law based on what she has read? Is that close? Really, YOU are the reason for societal stigma (of any sort) with your one lane, one way, narrow mind. I am in grad school at Xavier (Yes, a Jesuit school) getting my MBA and I LOVE TOKING EVERY NIGHT! It is my "chardonnay", minus the risk of death or homicide if I choose to go anywhere. The whole debate is ridiculous. We as Americans just need these topics to "discuss" as a form of catharsis for what has been wrong in our own lives. It is pointless, because in the end when legalization has been pushed through (eventually it WILL happen), people like you will simply jump on the next bandwagon to find something to debate AnnaLynn wrote: lol..."responsible pot-smoker"...that never gets old... I dont smoke pot. I could make my arguments, but will just be happy saying... YES I think the laws are too harsh in my humble opinion. resources would be better spent on MILLIONS of other crimes and unsolved cases.

everybody here keeps saying how much harder pot is on your lungs but the problem is that it isnt carcinogous. there hasnt ever been one death directly attributed to marijuana. in addition, marijuana isnt physically addictive like tobacco. an average tobacco smoker is smoking what? 20 cigarretes a day, but the average pot smoker is smoking maybe once or twice a week. regardless of that matter there has never even been one case of lung cancer or emphysema directly attributed to marijuana. if you people actually did legitimate research on marijuana you wouldnt be so closed minded. its one of the least harmful substances for your body. Coffee kills more people every year. food kills more people every year. you annalynn are just another ignorant american jumping on the bandwagon with our government. remember that whole thing about america being free, that the government shouldnt be allowed to interfere in our personal matters, how alchohol prohibition didnt work, etc. your a fuckin idiot. read up retard.
